By the look on Christine Sinclair's face after the final whistle I think it shows she knows the chance of ending her career with a major title next to her name has just improved a whole lot.

She was average, the game was poor from both teams, Canada has a good defensive structure and a moment of pure brilliance from Beckie that is what made the difference.

Regarding the tactics of teams like France and the USA, are they over thinking their opposition and playing a measured first half ?

In the second half they make tactical substitutions to try and open of things. France ( Tomis ) and USA ( Dunn ) but the opposition is tighter than ever. Perhaps France and USA should take a few risks in the first 30 minutes with these players on the field and bang in a goal or two.

    Congratulations to Canada and Sweden.

I don't think they don't care , I think seeing Abily's reaction at the end...usually she cries but she was only a little bit sad....I think the girls understood that this was the end of the group and nothing they could do about it.....
Very poor performance , starting from the coach and that stupid decision to put Bussaglia as AM when we all know Elise has no offensive movement which isolated Le Sommer even more...Anyway, there is no much to say as we all watched how the game was ,Canada took advantage of the only proper offensive moment they had while France only relied on Wendie's header ......The game was over in the first half les Bleues came with zero fighting spirit, it's sad to end the international career of many of them like that but sincerely today performance was so poor they can't be saved once again.

She was pretty good but the young ones I'm most impressed with are Flemming and Beckie.

It's always about fighting spirit. At the international level it's 90% mental and 10% physical. French athletes have a tendency to be technically good and mentally weak. Its a plague.

They try something in the last 5 minutes but when you did nothing for the first 85 it's a lil bit too late....
I see what you mean but the two defeat are different....USA loss on penalty which still something like a lottery after dominating Sweden most of the game....France loss during the 90 minutes after a very very poor performance with zero fighting spirit.
Even the tactical substitutions were different, Ellis gave her team a new structure introducing basically all offensive players...Bergeroo kept the same tactics only changing players's names....imho Jill Ellis is tactically better than Bergeroo who is the best France ever had...lol

French athltes mentally weak...I see what you mean I remember Teddy Riner, Tony Parker, Titi Henry, Zidane , Platini etc...completely looser all mentally weak!!...or am I wrong ?!?...lol.
You are mentally weak only when you abandon the battle...this group failed but les Bleues will be back with new coach and players, the story continues;).

ps: the fact French are romantic people, we prefer loosers because there is a drama to talk about ...we are more Poulidor than Anquetil..while for Anglo-Saxon/Germanic countries is quite the opposite.

How many titles has France basketball won? 0
Tony Parker has American heritage, dont forget, just like me.

And how many WC wins does France have compared to Italy, Germany or Brazil? They have arguably the most pro football players in the top leagues however. Not as many national titles as comparable countries though.

Lool... this converstation is getting boring now, Anyway you can check Fance basketball trophies at wikipedia, Tony Parker is born and raised in Europe and has a Ducth mother...and French players are the most on top pro football league because they "cost" less than other from top division and most important more willing to go abroad because on average they easily earn more than in France.....male football it's all about money.

I completely agree. If she was playing in the NWSL the coach would pull her aside after every practice to work on that. But playing for Lyon she doesnt need to have a decisive effect on games since they always win regardless.

His dad is American and played in the NBA. You think he learned his winning attitude from his model mom?

Isn't that the story line for the majority of Canada's team?

This France generation is a failure. No question about it after this tournament. Failed in 2011 and 2015 World Cups. Failed in 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Failed at Euro 2013.

They have major rebuilding to do before hosting the next World Cup. Most of their "golden generation" (which turned out to be not so golden) will be either retired or over-the-hill by that time.

They're golden for Lyon but not when they have to play more physical sides in major tournaments. Against Canada today all Canada needed to do was foul them and disrupt their play knowing that they probably wouldnt be able to out-muscle them on the free-kicks either.

Cause in your opinion a female model can't have a winning attitude ?!?....We are talking about a mentality not skills...which are different....I'm pretty sure you don't know how competitive modelling is....
But what about INSEP ??...I'm pretty sure he learned some important things there too , even though his teachers were probably all French....:whistling:

Yes. Exactly. You said yourself that France had no fighting spirit today. Is that about mentality or skills?

Loollll...well Hope Solo proved today that some Americans should be keep out of competitive sports...they simply don't understand its nature and are unbale to have a minimum respect ......
Please take a look on someone like Camille Abily's records and trophies and comeback to tell us her career was a "failure" if you have the courage....
This generation still France's golden one because they achieve what their predecessor not only never did but never dreamed of....and they did all this by entertaining football fans all-around the world, showing them what is the French way of playing football.
Necib-Cadamuro and Co. will be remembered just like the Cruyff's Netherlands or Puskas's Hungary are still celebrated years after even without winning a thing.;)

As individuals, they have found success. As a collective group, in big tournaments, failure. How many games have they dominated and put shot after shot high and wide?
