We should beat Honduras but they aren't that abjectly awful. They sent a fairly talented U.S. squad to the playoff with Colombia, and they did beat Algeria by the same margin we did as well as had a lead on Portugal.

The difference is , Correa is still young while Di Maria is in his prime and still often play like a headless chicken. Althugh in many occassions, he did end up with a goal or assist or both.

At least its a win for now and we're still on the track. Then again, imagine if we have Icardi and Dybala on the attack.

Brazil still scoreless with Iraq in the 81st minute.

It's a final. 180 minutes of scoreless football against powerhouses South Africa and Iraq. :ROFLMAO:

How can anyone blame el Vasco... The guy was coaching the woman's sub 23 team and was literally the only coach under pay from the AFA. He was the ONLY guy for the job. There were not another options. Quite frankly, its a miracle he has even put a team together at all.

Correa is frustrating as hell. For all the talent he has, he is beyond selfish. I guess he has yet to learn anything under Cholo.

Or maybe, he's just not that good. I get he was under pressure, but that penalty was atrocious. I hate seeing players like Correa adopt this penalty style that messi uses (and uneffectively at that) Would much rather see a player blast into row Z than pull that kind bullshit.

So much of taking penalties is personality. Look at Mascherano. Never took one in his life, yet he smashes it into the roof of the net in the Copa Final after Messi had missed and he had all the pressure in the world on him. Enough of this side foot nonsense and waiting for the keeper.

Don't blame el Vasco. Don't blame the kids. These aren't the best kids in their age group. And I'm not even talking about those in Europe. These guys barely play for their clubs.

Blame Grondona, long dead, but his cronies vying for power are what have brought Argentina to this position. There is no one else to blame but the AFA.

Beyond pathetic. These kids may not be the best but they have more ability than their opponents. And yet look apart from Ascacibar who was outstanding again anything but a team. Blame the coach as well. Poor tactics, ineffective substitutions too. To lose to a pile of rubbish like Honduras is beyond the pale. No excuses.

Utter crap, but at least it's over and done with, even if we flucked it to the next stage we would have lost.

It's easier to take first penalty ever when goalies don't know anything about your style, than take 100th when they know everything about your style.

Maybe our youngsters are overrated. Was not really impressed with anyone too much.

In addition to this tournament, have not been really impressed with Vietto, Correa, or Kranevitter too much overall.

    Maybe they improve.

Just like Aguero, Higuain, Pastore, and Lamela were overrated. Lamela at least has time on his side.

Dybala and Icardi have impressed me, though. Would like to see Lanzini really break out.

The 2005-2007 generation arent overrated, they just choked under preasure in senior team tournament but they always delivers in quailfier and youth tournament and before the final came. I dont like them for being chokers but I wouldnt say they're overrated in term of ability.

We've been winning mulitple World youth titles and Olympics since 90's ( 7 titles in total ), the only problem though, those guys just couldnt deliver when playing a final or QF against formidable opponent. However, they won WYC & Olympic while these current lot is basically worst than anything I could imagine. There's no footballing brain shown throughout every game. Just run fast, pass quickly to the front, try to find space and shoot... repeat. I just wish at least few of them has a bit of maturity in their playing but sadly not, Correa included.

Dybala and Icardi certainly would makes difference since they've been playing at high level against world class opponent. With the current manager though, having those two wouldnt make much difference. The team play just flat out bad.

We are unbeaten, have a clean sheet, and are in the quarterfinals.

    No longer.

    .............

Guys, all trash talk asides, it's too bad your federation didn't send a good team. I'm not all that familiar with what happened, but I don't understand why your federation couldn't get its act together. Calleri, for example, played his heart out. It's too bad he's leaving my team, and he left a good impression.

Good luck with Edgardo Bauza... another Argentine that I'm glad worked at São Paulo

Any team that win the gold certainly more deserving than the team that AFA sent to Rio this year. That's a fact whether you like it or not.

I believe Correa has plenty of talent and potential BUT the problem for most players like Correa, they fail to evolve and learn how to really play the game. His IQ for the game still seems a working progress.

Broke because all the corrupt officials stole the money and stashed it in Switzerland or wherever.
