Um, Australia is also moving on. EDIT: The 2 best 3rd place teams move on since the tournament only has 3 groups (12 teams).
With 4 points, the Aussies are very likely through. I don't see NZ or Colombia getting anything later today.
Nope, they're through. Even if New Zealand were to grab a point (or China-Sweden result were to draw), Australia would still be through on GD from either of those games.
Group F: 9+05 (+7-02) F1.Canada 4+04 (+9-05) F2.Germany 4+03 (+8-05) F3.Australia 0-12 (+3-15) Zimbabwe Zimbabwe scored in every match! If they hadn't scored vs. Australia, Germany and Australia would have tied at 4+4, but Germany would still pip 2nd on goals scored, 9 to 8.
I do not believe in dumping games and both CDN and GER were resting/protecting some players. I am still proud of my CDN girls going for the win. CDN has never beaten GER. Shows much better depth than ever before and who wants to suck out and not go for it. CDNs do not like sucks. So bring on the quarter finals - whomever you go against is going to be good competition. Happy for Tanc as she has been a big part of this program for so long. - good to see her going out on a high note. (Of course, maybe she will have one more chance to stomp on a Yank - RELAX I am just kidding - sort of). Go CDN GO!
German fans have been complaining about Neid since before the WC last year. They have largely disagreed with her selections to the team and whom she chooses to play. Tonight, I know they are chanting, don't let the door hit you on the way out. The international forum will have some insight on this, no doubt.
I would have to agree. In prepping for this the CDNs played BRA three times and FRA. This much younger line up gained some great experience in those games and we are playing without our #1 goal. Hope it all pays off in the quarterfinals and on. Lots of difficult games from here on in. Go CDN Go!!!
At least you did not say curling! I too played a lot of lacrosse when I was young. Great sport. We could not afford hockey and that was 50 years ago.
I didn't pick The little brother of war at random. The Queen signed the official National Sports of Canada Act in 1994. The official National sports are Lacrosse in Summer, Hockey in winter. http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/PDF/N-16.7.pdf Between 1859 and 1994, Lacrosse was the only official sport of Canada. Hockey is a relative newcomer. Lacrosse has the distinction of having won a battle, btw. I also played Jr B hockey in the '60's, but I even went to church with a lacrosse stick in my hand.
Thanks. I did know that. I have an MA in Phys Ed, ie, coaching. We all had to take at least one history of Phyd. Ed. course. Anyway, looking forward to the game. Will be a great test for our team. Go CDN Go!
