28' 2-0 #15 Makore(?) settles facing away at 27m center, hooks ball down onto left corner for #17 Basopo chasing Matheson(!) -- intriguing footrace, Matheson had angle and wins just in time, shields momentarily but loses it out.

29' 2-0 Zimbabwe left throw-in at 8m, to Makore at 4m box left. Makore does a nice sole-drag-and-spin, darts to endline mid-left, Bélanger slides and pokes ball over. Zimbabwe left ck, promptly cleared.

30' 2-0 Sinclair receives at 16m arc left, cuts inside around 1, shoots right instep bend just wide right low.

32' 2-0 Lawrence chips from 27m box left to 9m 1/3 right, Beckie gets past Majika and hop-volleys over bar.

35' 3-0 Quinn(?) to Fleming at circle center, long chip up box right hits Bélanger flying up right touch unnoticed. Bélanger juggles down box right to 4m fast, cross outswings to 9m left post. Beckie runs on unmarked, awkward twist-open and waist-high right instep volley, floats perfectly into right side netting. Dzingirai hasn't shown tremendous shot-stopping reflexes, but she has a point: her first response is to wave an arm at box top left, universal GK-language for hey don't lose your mark.

38' 3-0 Tancredi cross from arc top box right to Sinclair unmarked at 14m left post, standing header drops onto roof. Zimbabwe have lost a lot of their fire.

42' 3-0 Lawrence passes toward Sinclair at 22m arc left, Zimbabwe fluff two slide-clearances, ball sits at Sinclair's feet and she dribbles patiently to arc tanget left. Backpass to Tancredi at 25m, one-touch chip to spot, Matheson is in behind! Matheson one-touch right instep under Dzingirai, into 1/3 left back low. Offside :p

43' 3-0 Zimbabwe press to arc top right, Canada somehow quack ball back toward 8m 1/3 right. #8 Kapfumvuti chases 1-v-2, Quinn shields her off, gets picked up and sprawled-upon. D'Angelo dives out and smothers -- her first serious action.

44' 3-0 Zimbabwe escape at midfield right touch, pass to Basopo 1-v-1 at box top right -- she spins past pressure, pass to Makore at 13m mid-right. Turn-and-shoot blocked over by a slide tackle.

HT 3-0. Signs of life from Zimbabwe's attack. Still, Canada are ruthless.

50' 3-0 Zimbabwe left ck, to 5m center, D'Angelo catches high. No scrum there, nobody making that run.

58' 3-0 Yellow card on Fleming.
59' 3-0 Yellow card on Buchanan. Her 2nd, she misses GER-CAN on Tuesday :(

61' 3-0 Canada subs in (1 of 3) #16 Deanne Rose for #14 Melissa Tancredi.
63' 3-0 Canada subs in (2 of 3) #2 Allysha Chapman for #8 Diana Matheson.
68' 3-0 Zimbabwe subs in (1 of 3) #10 Mavis Chirandu for #18© Felistas Muzongondi.
71' 3-0 Canada subs in (3 of 3) #15 Nichelle Prince for #17 Jessie Fleming.

78' 3-0 Beckie(?) bends a cross from box top wide right to 10m center, #12 Nyaumwe bumps a fellow defender and quacks her back-header only to Sinclair's shins at 13m 6-left. Sinclair scythes a shot under Dzingirai into 1/3 left back low. Offside!?

79' 3-0 Zimbabwe subs in (2 of 3) #11 Daisy Kaitano for #15 Rutendo Makore.
81' 3-0 Yellow card on Bélanger, for reaching back and (inadvertently) stepping on #10 Chirandu's left toes.

86' 3-1 Zimbabwe longball up box right to ~circle top, jump-header flicked on into a dangerous decision. D'Angelo commits, sprints out to own 25m box left, #12 Nyaumwe wins head-on race and dinks right foot-top high over D'Angelo, bouncing at 14m top mid-(her)right. #10 Mavis Chirandu is onside behind 2, waits for ball at 11m 2/5 right, lifts thigh-high left instep and sweeps it into center back. Don't lose that race!!

88' 3-1 Zimbabwe subs in (3 of 3) #13 Jeke Erina for #17 Kudakwashe Basopo.

90+1' (of +3') 3-1 #12 Nyaumwe lifts a cross from arc top box right to 15m right post, Buchanan leaps over one and dunk-heads down and away. Ball comes back to Nyaumwe coming inside to arc top mid-right, right foot blast juuuuust wide left low. Herdman conniptions in about 5', on the way to the locker room.

    FT 3-1.

Sinclair's goal was waved off as the ball had hit her hand before she kicked it.

Zimbabwe goal was just bad defending from the Canadians and D'Angelo didn't need to come out and challenge. She was lucky she didn't handle it or she would've been sent off.

06' 0-1 Foord dribbles from circle tangent front right centerward, turns upfield past the entire scrum, in full flight to 25m. Perfect diagonal pass leads Kerr unmarked through box top mid-left to 8m 7-left, one-touch left instep blast rises over Schult's dive, just inside left post 1/2 high. Foord outran the scrum!

25' 0-1 Alleway and Popp both down, Popp holding right ankle and furious. Dunno what happened before or eafter -- I'm watching USA wvb and woso :coffee:

30' 0-1 Popp late to challenge De Vanna, spins and butt-bumps her down. Foul, yellow card on Popp.

42' 0-1 Gorry sitting down, has sprung a leak: small blob of blood on her left kneecap. She walks into near touch to get a patch.

45' 0-2 Australia longball up wide left for De Vanna sprinting past Krahn at 27m, down to a stand-off at 1m wide left. De Vanna nutmegs Krahn, darts around her and fires a ground pass through 4m center. Foord backcuts Germany's defense (what is it with Germany ball-watching in their own 6), rounds right-to-center to 2/5 left and slips one foot edge between the CB and Schult's hands, dinks into right side pipe. +1'.

45+1' (of +1') 1-2 Behringer(?) ground pass from arc tangent right to 13m mid-left, Däbritz cuts clean through the high line, one-touch right lob drops perfectly over Williams into back right low.

    HT 1-2. Whew!

    FT 2-2.

And with that, Canada and the US have enough to advance to the QF's.

Thanks for the reports. Now this sets up a game that neither CDN or GER want to win. Made me think that Buchanan taking the second yellow in such a way was on purpose to make sure to free her up for the quarters.

Don't know if it was on purpose, but I have no doubt they told her a yellow wouldn't hurt and might help.

Why surprised? I don't think Canada will be wanting to win this match. 2nd place in Group F is the place to be: 1st in Group F and you (likely) face France. 3rd place and you face the US or Brazil.

12' 0-0 Islacker hops over a lunge-tackle at ~15m arc left, but not far enough, trips on landing. Foul, pk.

13' 1-0 Behringer pk, right instep to 1/4 left back low, Labbé went wrong way. Germany are oddly happy, Neid high-fiving her seated bench.

18' 1-0 Tancredi(?) passes from circle top right down box right for Rose timing her turn perfectly past Germany's high line. Rose drifts to 8m box right, 1-v-4 -- chips across mouth, Schult slaps it across and over?

19' 1-0 Canada right ck, cleared away. Bélanger was a forward before she converted to RB, so with Wilkinson also in, she must be part of Herdman's clever play-to-win-but-not-really lineup.

25' 1-1 Germany backpass to own 24m arc left, bad one-touch sends a 40-60 ball to 25m center. Schmidt(?) lunge-pokes ball loose, Tancredi collects and counters hard past arc top left to 16m, blasts left foot low across mouth, beats Schult's dive into back right low. That's why you start Tancredi :D

I'm assuming going for 2nd place would be Herdman's plan, but once you get competitive athletes out there, they'll do what they want.

02' 1-0 Kellond-Knight turns at circle top left to 33m, long ground pass through box top mid-left sends Gorry chasing perfectly past the high line. Gorry catches up at 8m mid-left, one-touch cross to 1/3 right, De Vanna opens hips and taps left instep into 1/3 right back high. Nice pass.

15' 2-0 Kellond-Knight right ck, inswings and dives over a scrum at right post, bounces at 3m center. Polkinghorne block-volleys toward goal past Dzingirai frozen -- the in-goal defender  is 1m inside the goal, chests ball awry but that's already over the line.

37' 3-0 Kellond-Knight right ck, inswings to 5m left post. Kennedy runs up from mid-left, outjumps #4 Majika and #12 Nyaumwe not boxing out, blasts a header in.

46' 3-0 Zimbabwe subs in (1 of 3) #15[y] Rutendo Makore for #10 Mavis Chirandu.

50' 4-0 Catley dribbles past circle top mid-left, bends a long cross to box top arc right. Simon back-cuts the high line, Dzingarai charges out to 14m but way short, Simon one-touch right instep chip floats into center back low.

52' 4-0 Australia subs in (1 of 3) #16 Michelle Heyman for #3 Katrina Gorry.

53' 4-0 Catley(?) down wide left, cross to 4m 1/3 left, Dzingirai stoops and blocks it out to spot. De Vanna(?) chests ball to self, soft left roundhouse, Dzingirai catches. Australia are torturing Zimbabwe with Energizer-bunny attacks.

55' 5-0 van Egmond left ck, to 6m center. Dzingirai comes out and flaps but doesn't reach ball, Heyman outjumps Makore +1, back-heads down past Dzingirai's right cheek, into back right. Dzingirai stays down with -- hip pain?? Backup GK #16 Magwede jogs to warm up ...

58' 5-0 Dzingirai stretchered off

59' 5-0 Zimbabwe subs in (2 of 3) #16 Lindiwe Magwede for #1 Chido Dzingirai.
