Wilock was really impressive Thought the youngsters at CB were good too. Xhaka a baller baller Ox was good too.
I think this is the combo AW was hunting for the last two years once he realized Jack probably wasn't going to make it, the true DM is dated, and Ramsey doesn't work well deep. Have to say I was impressed with xhaka's passing from deep. He and ozil are going to light things up. Just need a forward or winger who can finish some of them.
It was only one game (against weak opposition) and most of the best players were absent, but it sure seemed like all the Arsenal players were trying to find Xhaka every time we had the ball. He looks like he can be our second quarterback alongside Ozil. The Xabi Alonso comparisons might be apt. I don't think he misplaced a single ball tonight and his passes were so crisp. Exciting, albeit under zero pressure. Was not so impressed with our forwards. Ox had a couple flashes. The others didn't show me much. I don't think you can really judge off such a small sample size, but Akpom doesn't look special to me. Jeff may need more time abroad. I know he made an impact for us last season, but IMO the jury's still out on Iwobi. Joel largely wasteful. Theo...ugh. Willock did a couple good things.
Fun to watch regardless of the of the so/so performance. Honestly I had totally forgotten about Debuchey.
Coqs went down funny with his knee but it didn't look like he got hit or twisted up too bad. Hopefully it's minor.
I had to miss the 2nd half. How did we play? Glad to see Xhaka got some minutes but a little surprised frankly. I guess wenger wants to get him some bedding in time.
Made some good runs, got into good positions, with midfielders he hadn't played with in a while. He'll be effective as a center forward, and he does link up well with Alexis and Ozil.
Leave your biases at the door and look at the way he gets involved in play. I was pretty skeptical of Walcott as a center forward 12 months ago. How he played there changed my mind.
I have left them at the door....it's his play that illustrates what little he contributes. You are the ONLY ONE I've seen out of numerous posters and numerous write ups of the game that is saying he played decently. Either you didn't watch the game or you just like to be a contrarian for the sake of being different.
Like I always say about Nacho, THE best leftback in the League, bar none, hey, speaking of bars, for all my fellow Gooners who made the trip to NorCal, did any of you guys hit that bar where the giant scoreboard was??? (It's on the TV left), and as for the crowd we definitely drew the bigger crowd, and we inspired the Gunners to a big 2-1 win!!! Next, SoCal, Carson to be more specific, Chivas, come this Sunday, YOU'RE NEXT!!! COYF'n'G!!!
BTW, as you can tell, I have just finished watching the DVD of the match and I thought we had some great chances in it, especially early on and also late in the second half, Xhaka looked like everything we expected from him, and how about the overlapping run by Nacho to find Akpom for the match winner, but goddamn ESPN, we would've wanted more camera time for The Gunners, I thought the cameras were too much focused of the MLS All-Stars, we have some stars of our own donning the Red & White who earned it, typical homers at ESPN, hopefully FS1 gets us more of us in Carson vs. Chivas. Great victory, and COYF'n'G!!! P.S.: I hope you guys who went to the match get in some video footage and/or shots/selfies of the action itself from an in-person perspective, post 'em up guys!!! Can't wait to see that footage and those pics!!! BTW, the strips we will be donning at home look awesome, can't wait to see the away strips this Sunday!!!
I thought theo was bright and fast especially at the beginning. But he was lacking in that finishing quality. Pretty much the same as how I've felt about him since his injury. Still kinda like him but no longer have big hopes for him.
Takes around two years to come back from an ACL tear. I thought he was done when he went out against Sperz, and I was skeptical about him playing centrally, but he's been a lot more effective as a striker than he has been on the wing.
That's because Tottenham are shit, and just like Bully of Arsenal Fan TV said, the whole world knows that!!! And, about Scums, I hope you don't mind a slight makeover to my signature, I'll slowly get to it after I pick up Alice over at work (she does volunteer work for the Harbor House at Jefferson Mental Health from 8:00-noon M-F)
