Apparently, the Crew is getting Hapoel Beersheba's Brazilian defender, William Ribeiro Soares. After their UEFA Champions League qualifier again Olympiacos, the press in Israel is saying that this was his last match as he has been sold to MLS and will be going to Columbus. At The End Of The Match: Soares Leaves Hapoel Beersheba - One.co.il (in Hebrew)
Who? And this is slighty scary, because apparently Israeli defenses cant handle mls legend aaron schoenfeld...
Just wikied this guy. His previous stops were the portuguese lower divisions (where he failed to stick with a team) and Israel. And he's 31 years old. Dear god i hope this isnt true.
I bet Schoenfeld probably put us in touch with him. In one of the thousands of Schoenfeld articles on the internet recently he said guys are hitting him up wanting to come here. On my version of FM16 Soares immediately gets called into the Israel team and scored on his debut against the Greeks. ☺ I'll try to sign him on my current save.
If its true, im sure hes being signed as depth. Being over 30, maybe he likes the idea of playing/living in this hemisphere of the world. He did play for what I assume is one of the best teams in that league if they qualified for Champions League...so he cant be complete crap. Hopefully since he can also play d-mid, he will be a good passer and make good decisions. If he does sign, I suspect Parkhurst is on the way out. Sauro + Naess as prime age starters. Wahl + Soares the veteran backups. Barson in reserve. I think I could be comfortable with that.
I have a hard time believing GB can't find a depth defender somewhere more reputable than the israeli league. A guy that is over 30, and couldn't compete in the portuguese second division in his prime. We arewasting an international spot on a backup aging defender? Very odd.
A paper cup holds lava better than our defense can hold a two goal lead right now so we shouldn't be sticking our noses up in the air over whether or not a new defender is good enough for our team.
It appears that the Israeli club are gonna replace him with a Miguel Vitor. Should have gone for Miguel Vitor instead
What's he think about powerpoint? Applebees? Is he For Columbus? These are more important issues than what Wikipedia has to say about him.
Agreed. As soon as they picked up Naess, I thought this is Parkhurst's last year. I am hoping Soares looks like a stop gap measure until Crognale is ready next year. For this year we need a defender to put on when the CBs are sucking wind around the 70th minute who can you know defend.
Soares Leaves Beersheba, Melikson Doubtful For Final - Yedioth Ahronoth (in Hebrew) So apparently, Columbus sent a scout to watch Soares against FC Sheriff Tiraspol and were not impressed. So he has some other MLS offer and one from Minnesota United.
Even if dead. It's comforting that the Crew are still looking for other CB's, even after Naess, with some height. None of our defenders are dangerous on set pieces. None of our strikers are dangerous on set pieces. Umm, no one in our starting eleven really is. I would've been okay with the signing just looking at this: If we already snubbed, ok, still posted because need something to keep me awake with All Star week: http://www.crewture.net/2016/07/72916-nordecke-world-journal-crew-after.html
