You got problems, old-timer. You're well known here for saying racist comments, not me.

San Diego Armada has a very nice ring to it and it has my vote!

Also that Mr. Warmth guy seems like a pretty big troll.

I couldn't but resist the idea for a team team and crest with all the recent news about potential MLS expansion to America's Finest City. I have heard more than once the name "San Diego Armada". Which I personally love it. So with this in mind I can envision the colors of Navy, Sky blue and Orange. So here my idea for crest :

I'd love the color combo to be just that or at the very least feature some orange.
I know there is other MLS teams which use these colors, but hopefully with a heftier dose of orange as a secondary color it would stick out, think NYCFC away, but with a brighter more prominent orange for example.

I'm pretty much open minded on the name, as long as it's inclusive, not too generic and no fc euro-pandering

As for you logo I like how you've incorporated waves, name and symbols.
For my taste it's too busy with little details (the boat and wave lines, the rope lines and the graphics in the big wave at the bottom for example), also San Diego gets kinda lost, maybe it it's bolded or so that could change.

Still thumbs up for creating it and thanks for sharing!

Reminds me of the Spanish Armada, which got smashed in the English Channel by a smaller but more nimble English fleet that sailed "fireships" into the Spanish invasion fleet at night.

Why not call them the "Seadogs" and use Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind (which sailed up the coast of California) or Sir Francis himself as a mascot?

Something naval would be cool... San Diego Armada works, who cares about freaking Jacksonville in lower division, in any case NASL is trying to compete with MLS so why not bury them... just put some sort of big naval gun on crest like Arsenal's and watch the merchandise $$$s roll in.

Because competition is good. Besides, NASL covers markets that MLS won't touch, which is good for soccer. We need more markets and clubs not less.

There are people who would say the same about MLS, so you might want to be careful there.

Anyway, you need to take the longview. If MLS were going to cover all the markets, yeah, sure, it doesn't matter. However, they are not. MLS are going to grab the big markets so that they can cement their place as 1st Division. After that, unless they plan to introduce pro/rel (and they aren't) we need a decent 2nd (and 3rd and 4th) Div. I'm rooting for the sport in general, not just the league.

I would be surprised if someday when the MLS is fully expanded to 30 clubs. (I just imagine having more than 30). Then USL has 40 clubs taking up both the 2nd and 3rd tier. Perhaps with 20 teams at each tier with pro/rel within the 2nd and 3th tiers.

As a proud UC Santa Barbara Alum I support this idea whole heartily. Plus we can steal the chant "ole ole ole ole Gauchos, Gauchos" Just no tortilla throwing allowed. It's a waste of good tortillas.

Only issue is 99% of fans first thought when they hear the name will be, what the F*** is a GAUCHO?

Why would you honor the English over the Spanish considering the name of the city and state are in Spanish.

The Spanish Armada carried priests and instruments of torture so that the Inquisition could be imposed upon the English people once the land invasion had begun. This time, the underdog Brit seadogs - led by Sir Francis Drake & Sir Walter Raleigh - were on the right side of history.

On the other hand, a Zorro-themed mascot might be interesting for a team named "the Bandits."

Said it in another thread but I like San Diego Athletic/ Althletico San Diego. Incorporate both languages in the crest and in the signage around the stadium. The name is a cognate and is already used by both English and Spanish speaking clubs in other parts of the world.

Staying on the nautical theme for San Diego, Admirals, Rovers, Marauders, Neptunes, and Tritons work well.

Definitely seems San Diego FC is popular from what I'm reading around various sites. It's obvious and simple. However I'm still hoping something a bit more creative is used.

Looks like we'll get our vote on the name some time in the second half of the year.
