2009 Confederations Cup when we lost final to Brazil - after being up 2-0 at halftime and so excited.
Lionel Messi: 'The national team is over for me.' Oh, Argentina.— Sam Kelly (@HEGS_com) June 27, 2016 Messi: 'I'm taking this decision for me and for the many people who want this. I've tried so hard, but I'm leaving without managing it.'— Sam Kelly (@HEGS_com) June 27, 2016 Sergio Romero: 'I don't think he's thought about it properly ... I don't imagine a national team without Messi.'— Sam Kelly (@HEGS_com) June 27, 2016
Best time to make a bet on Argentina for WC2018. He'll be back and their odds will be stacked ever higher.
for a "meaningless" tournament, their sure was a lot of collateral damage. Brazil and Argentina's coach and maybe even the greatest player on the planet. This was a great tournament, but hopefully Messi can overcome his pain and play in Russia.
Haven't read since 193, but posting this for posterity. I hope everyone who called this a glorified friendly tournament realizes their error. It was a major tournament. So what if Brazil wanted to build in an excuse. Like they would actually win anyway. And fairly, there's only one or two randoms on here all hung up on them. Great tournament. Great passion. Great theatre. This must become a thing. It's too good not to do every cycle.
Oh, so I guess you guys have maybe addressed this. Oops. Still, hahahaha at Brazil. Hire bad coaches and run your federation like assholes, you are irrelevant. (Relative to what should be expected. Not to us or anything. They were chumps. They were put to the sword.)
I hope Messi decides he overreacted. I was rooting for Argentina. I wanted Messi to win his first major tournament for Argentina. (unless you count the Olympics).
Looks like Mascherano and Aguero may join him, rumored also; Biglia, Lavezzi, Higuain and DiMaria may join the band of quits.
Nah they aren't all really going to quit. This is just a showing against the lack of appreciation from their fans at home and a protest against the AFA. No way all of them quit in their prime with a world cup just 2 years away.
