Great win, but I'm really concerned about the yellows we accumulated, that will probably cause an issue if we play in the semi-finals (likely against France). I wouldn't be surprised if both Boateng and Hummels got yellows in the game against Italy/Spain and we missed them both in the semi final. Or Kimmich who has got to be surprise for Germany in the tournament. Just one comment about Ozil taking the penalty, on the TSN (Canadian feed) the commentators got a clip of Muller immediately pointing to Ozil to take the penalty after it's been called. Apparently Muller's confidence as a penalty taker has been shattered after missing a penalty in a CL match earlier this year. According to the commentator it's been mentioned in the German press, anyone read anything about that?
haven't read that but not surprising as if he had scored in the CL semi against Atletico, Bayern would have progressed to the final.
my god Hector's crosses are so bad, if this was another decent crosser we could have had another 2,3 goals , every cross worse then the one before even though he was like all alone in half of them and not so far left
Great win, could have been 4 even 5 but a masterclass by Germany in many phases; these players are extremely talented both technically and fundamentally....Other teams can score on a counter or a brilliant play here or there, but Germany has a game plan and the players to execute it - which should favor them in every match going forward.
I still can't believe the yellow on Hummels. Of the 3 games I've seen from France, they've gotten some silly dodgy decisions. Wouldn't doubt seeing one of Germany's CBs get a soft yellow if they go through. A potential huge problem if they make it to the semis, as the defense has been a masterclass with 0 goals conceded in 4 games. Reminds of the U21 team with Kroos and Neuer several years back when they won and conceded 0 or 1 goal in the entire tournament.
If any of you guys are on Rue Massena I am the drunk guy singing all the Germany chants. Plz join me all other Germans are sober thz
Guys I am now going to take the train back to Paris so if any other German starts singing it won't be me.
hahaha, Low says we will practice penalties during the week as they should. http://www.dfb.de/en/news/detail/loew-we-had-total-control-over-the-match-149000/
Austria and Germany joining forces tends to not end well. Hector was the better full back today tbh. Outside of Germany his performances are much more appreciated, he was in the guardian's best 11 of the group stage amoung others. Spiegel Online's own Spix index also has him as the statistically best left back, it's somewhat dodgy, admittedly. That's not to take anything away from Kimmich of course. The kid has done great and is well on course to develop into a player of at least international quality, maybe more. I just can't for the life of me understand why people hate on Hector so much ( and Oezil, who has been excellent today again apart from the atrocious penalty ).
Controlled and much improved performance, convincing win. The only concern is 3 of our 4 defenders are on a single yellow card
the unconvincing Mustafi and the reliable but that offers nothing in attack Howedes will rescue us in that situation.
