Yeah they put yellow for less stuff, sometimes to calm the players, you know how the saying goes, pagan justos por pecadores... the ref really screw it over at the end trying to compensate back and forth lmao..

Regardless of that, great win! Totally deserved

I'm not, I think we should handle Chile without a problem. Beating a team twice in a tournament is a tricky task but I think we are flying high and we should be fine. Plus, Fideo should be back.

Strange match with the two hour interruption, it took the momentum out. Chile deserved winners.

This is exactly what happened. You could tell from how slow the red was to come out that he hadn't known ahead of time Sanchez was already on a yellow. This card was supposed to be an "OK now that we're back. Let's all be reminded to play nice" kind of card that turned into a possible game changer.

I had the impression (hallucination?) that he was trying his best to find a makeup red for just about any Chilean infraction for which he could justify it to equalize the sides, but it just wasn't happening.

    Felt really bad for Colombia.

Definitively not a "possible game changer", as Chile already was wining by 2-0, as how the match finished

But it sure did affect Colombia, and specially in that soft and completely soaked pitch, which really shouldn't have been played at, after how it got after the rain.

In any case, despite I may be biased in this case, I do believe that it was a perfectly deserved yellow card. You can't slide tackle anyone from behind, without even touching the ball. It doesn't matter if you hit hard or slightly (as how it did) the opposing player, as most times this happens it is a very dangerous situation for the integrity of the player (for whom receives the fault), which is perfectly described in the rule book, and should always be sanctioned with a caution. Sanchez here, fvcked up and you guys shouldn't be taking it on the referee, but on your own player instead as he is the only one to blame for leaving his team one man down.

I agree that Sánchez 2nd yellow was a bit over the top but to be fair, he should have at least gotten a yellow for that horrible tackle on Hernández in the 1st half. I'd be surprised if el Tucu can walk now, that was bad.

I think someone said the pitch drains well and I think that was proved correct, ball moved pretty well. And obviously some help from the sweepers.

Well, obviously Chile and Argentina have been the best South American teams at the last two tournaments, being the two finalists.

You could even say in the last three tournaments they were the top two, by arguing that, even though Chile exited in the world cup L16, they drew away to Brazil who beat Colombia who beat Uruguay. And Chile got a result against a big European side (Spain) which Brazil couldn't do.

Only thing is that in the qualifying campaign so far Chile and Argentina have definitely NOT shown that superiority.

This Chile side with Pizzi so far has been better than Sampaoli's. I know its a bit too soon to judge with only 3 good matches, but they honestly do play extremely well. Completely different style to Sampaoli's Chile but it seems this one works more effectively.

I don't think anyone can deny that this is the best Chile team of all time. The true genius behind this isn't Sampaoli, its Bielsa.

That's funny.. cuz before these two matches, the Chile Fans wanted Pizzi's head on a platter.

To be fair, I thought the same about Pizzi, I'm gonna take a guess and say that poor form was a morale drop. I thought he was bad because he was related to Chemo Del Solar and that disaster at Colon Santa Fe but it seems he's not a bad manager.

    So far anyways.

I think in this tournament the only thing out of place other than the 7-0 was that Uruguay did not play even remotely close to their potential. With or without Suarez

Its very worrisome when Chile loses 3 games in a row, and vs Jamaica in Chile. We did not play a good match vs Argentina, and then slowly started taking form. Lets see how the team does in the final. If it plays as well as it can, then we definitely got a shot.

Any person that truly follows Soccer knew Chile is a better team than Mexico, the 7-0 was exagerated but a 2-0 even 3-0 would have been logical.
To me the real surprise was Brasil been defeated by Peru.

Not really... I mean obviously Brasil is the favorite, no doubt about that. But when we consider that Peru knows to how to play Copa America, Brasil still is trying to regain form, last Copa America Brasil beat Peru by the minimum margin a game where Peru started winning, the result is not that surprising.

It was a surprise. Eliminating Brazil as a continent minnow is one thing, eliminating them as a continent minnow from the groups is a different story.

You could argue that Brazil also know how to play Copa America considering they have 8 and we have 2.

yeah but if we look closely last 3 Copa Americas Brazil pass group stages and gets eliminated while Peru is reaching further. Is hard to take Brazil story into account when they been struggling for quite some time.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying that Peru is better than Brazil. Peru beating Brazil just add to the argument that Brazil lately is doing really bad and Peru knows how to play Copa America.

All South American teams can beat each other, at one point or another.

Yeah, the competitive balance is as good as it has every been. It really does seem like Argentina and Chile are a slight step above, with Colombia/Uruguay/Brazil also being very strong teams that can accomplish anything.
