Totally agreed. I'm not shedding any tears for our trolls. They deserve what they got.

However, you mods say there's no across the board rules, but really quoting people on another forum just to antagonize should be an across the board one, IMO.

Can we finally put to rest the idea that Chile wasn't going to take this tournament seriously because it somehow wasn't a real Copa America? Or that it diminished their tournament win last year? As soon as players step on the field they want to win. The Chilean players were still giving maximum effort for more goals 70 minutes into the game, when Mexico was completely beat.

And if you are equating lone posters trolling to an official sanctioned forum you are telling a fantasy story.

Yep. It's not Mexican fans in general. On the other major English-language soccer forums, Mexican posters are generally a witty, interesting and intelligent group. But there's something twisted and contaminated about the Bigsoccer group, holding ridiculous double-standards and being obsessed with posts in the American forum.

It starts at the top. Inept leadership sets the tone for everybody else.

Chile have been the most fun in the world to watch for several years now. Looks like Pizzi is trying to continue the Bielsa/Sampaoli legacy. What concerns me is that Mex may fire Osorio and hire Sampaoli. They were after him after Herrara was fired but he did not want to leave Chile at that point. Now I think he is without a team.

Many years ago, I coached a just promoted kids soccer team into the gold division, we went to our first tournament, we had a very good team, lots of speed and heart. In the semis we were going to play the region's #3 team, they were just killing everyone on their way. So I improvise a 5 man backline and just a single forward. As expected, they took over the game from the first whistle, we held strong. There were two instances they were going to score, one was when our goalie had to come out on an angle 1vs1 play, the ball was going to in on the inside of the far post but their wing and our fullback didn't know it and fought to get the last touch, the winger just touched it enough to cause it to bounce off the post wide. We stayed scoreless and beat them in penalties. The moral of this story is you can bunker all you want but you are going to still need a little luck to make it work.

That thread works because it gives people a "space to vent" without derailing every single thread with that type of nonsense. US mods will issue infractions if they tried to respond to any provocative post in the US board so that is why it exist in the Mexican Forum. They get to rant, laugh, and mock to their hearts content without cluttering every thread with links that naturally lead the person quoted to start a flame war in every thread.

What people fail to see is that flame wars are quick to start and take on a life of their own. Mods have learned to shut down that behavior with infractions. The big thing is that Mexican commentators learn quickly with yellow infractions before they get a forum ban. US posters that choose to flame basically refuse to listen to any reason and just continue that they are The Donald and the PC police need to gtfo.

3/4 of the semifinals have Arg coaches. All 4 semifinalist in last years Copa had Arg coaches. And IIRC all Arg coached teams (?6-7?) advanced in the last 2 WCs. Maybe we should look way down South after Klinnsman.

The issue is tagging the posters in the posts and then banning/infracting them for defending themselves. It's stupid. You don't get to have it both ways(or apparently you do). Shit has nothing to do with "the donald" or "pc police". It has everything to do with an idiotic double standard. This whole "We get to be assholes but how dare you refute what we say!" shit.

Ah but are we allowed to start a 'BSMX Wall of Shame' ? Of course not many of us go over there to read nearly as much as they come over here.

Anyway, I kind of get why the different rules exist between the 2 forums....criticism towards Mexico and Mexicans can be construed as 'racist' alot more than calling a white guy a nad or a spazzo.

Somehow this topic got sidetracked, the argument was why did the Peru-Colombia game was an 82k sellout and our game wasn't, in a town that has probably the most USA fans. Someone said because of the proximity of the game to large Peruvian/Colombia communities in New York and New Jersey. And I said if that is the reason why wasn't this logic true for us since Seattle doesn't have a large foreign base communities, thus, should have more American fans for the game.

I find it hard to believe the what, six?, seven?, red cards they handed out last night were all legitimate reactions to true trolling. Seems from what's being said, it's more because their safe space was violated over there and a few were MODing on emotion.

In general is there another fan base here who goes around poking and prodding another as El Tri fans do with US fans? I think the point many are making is why it isn't allowed to go both ways. They dish it but can't take it. They have the right not to take it and can moderate as they wish, but people are pointing out the hypocrisy in it.

I'm not suggesting trolling after a 7-0 loss is a great thing to do but I would suggest the thin skin was on display for all to see.

And I have no idea what "cultural differences" has to do with USA posters getting tagged in the Gringo Wall of Shame thread, going in to respond/defend themselves, then getting told "funny Gringo posts or GTFO" or constantly getting called nads or spazzos across BS. I actually don't mind it that much, enjoy the banter, but seems most see it isn't allowed both ways.

I'd ask, why does it appear so many US fans felt the need to go over there and "troll" last night? Was it simply 7-0 or was it in part due to how US fans are needlessly antagonized? How they conduct themselves is what brought on the response. This is like an NBA ref giving a tech to the guy who reacts instead of the original action.

Before the game, Chile's coach was asked if he was going to change anything against a team that already beat them. His answer was, "We are not going to change, this is how Chile plays and if we are going to lose we are going to lose playing our style".

It's okay. I just saw a post that said "nads aren't real people so no attacks on them are personal" in response to a mod saying no personal attacks. Post was deleted, poster was not carded. This shit really only goes one way.

Hey DK, you know I've been around here forever and I'm older than dirt and while I love me a good banter, I try never to push things to the point it gives you or Bung or FA more work. And I can't speak for the US poster's behavior on the Mex forums in the past since last night was the first time I've ever looked at them - but I do think it puts you all in an awkward position when BS mods who are warning folks about posting in the Mex forum are also posting here - and quoting the posts from here over there.

In my personal opinion that is just 1) asking for trouble from less seasoned posters 2) playing both sides against the middle 3) will inevitably end up with annoyed posters.

DC is a good and smart poster, for instance. But do you need for him to work both forums in the hours after a loss? That's just a dude looking for trouble. It's your job and all, but I will suggest, after having a good number of miles around here, that given DC and estevo are "officials" they might do a better job of lessening the chance of cross-forum posting and insulting rather than increasing it.

I'm not going to lie - I don't like the tagging even though it's made the site better and my life easier as far as functions go. Mods aren't tagging in that thread as far as I know but if it happened recently it was a one off as my understanding is they decided not to do it a while ago.

That said - bashing of Mexico mods and fans happens here without sanction and we wouldnt let them come here to defend themselves excessively. And it's part of why I mention culture - they send up everyone and everything in that forum and in that thread - we just take ourselves a little more seriously over here :)
