Belgium enter this game as favourites for the Group and one of the favourites for the tournament. Golden Generation in their prime (albeit missing Kompany), this is the type of major tournament they need to win (or at least get to a semi-final) to warrant the Golden Generation type.

Italy come in with low expectations and numerous question marks (including who steps up to fill the voids created by injuries to Marchisio and Verratti). A great tournament team and one that historically surprises when their backs are to the wall, their defence will be key in the absence of any yet proven world-class attackers.

Please Conte start our best players and make us win this game. I really want to win this so badly. You can do it Italy, you can do it. Try really hard and stay well focused.

I'm surprised to see the lack of activity here. This seems like it has the potential to be the most entertaining game of the group stages.

Not that I want Italy to win (obviously), but it's sad that Verratti won't be participating. :(

    Hazard the captain?

Hoping for a great Italian performance.

Italy is only missing a 40yo Matthäus and you have Germany in 2000

Pelle had a great chance to make it 2. Had more space than he realized.

I made a prediction that Belgium would not make the QF. Very early but...Italy being Italy, apparently the worst side in 50 years, it could be the worst in 100 and they would still be a threat.

Lukaku is a foot away. He'll be criticized, but that was probably tougher than it looked.
