Hey Torrent supporters, here's a new thread to discuss the team, upcoming season, fan activities, chants and more. This will also be a great place to chat about the league, our new division and the other teams. And post any suggestions about what you'd like to do come game day!
I think it should be out either this week or early next week. Sounds like, with the latest fc Indiana match, friendlies are still being scheduled. In any case, I think there'll be a lot of home games. But traveling to Indiana or Chicago is still doable. It'd be fun to have a good presence at away games. And I'm looking forward to getting my season tickets too!
The Barons put out a survey today about teams from Milwaukee. Here's my two cents. I know the Torrent haven't played a game yet and don't have the history like the Eagles or Bavarians. But I do think they appeal to a much larger crowd. The Torrent is Milwaukee's team.
Totally agree. I supported the Bavarians when they had an NPSL team because I thought they were interested in growing the team. Then they dropped it and decided to spend millions for a stadium with minimal stands. That was even more shortsighted than MSOE building a downtown field with no stands. I'm not sure what the Bavarians expect now. Are they looking for supporters? There were some fans during their NPSL days, but it mostly seemed like the families of players. I don't know much about the Croatians, but frankly I don't think either team has any great aspirations beyond what they're doing now. The PLA just provides them a structured way for their majors teams to compete. The Torrent is totally different in that it's a professional team looking to build a fan base across the entire area and get to the USL/NASL level. The Torrent is a team all of Milwaukee can get behind.
The Torrent just made available their shareholder package with season tickets and a scarf for $80. Only 50 available though. Check it out at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/milwau...mpaign=new_event_email&utm_term=eventurl_text
Just announced: Join us for a fun and exciting trip to Chicago for the June 4th game against the Mustangs! We'll travel to and from the game aboard a Coach USA bus and you'll be entered to win great prizes along the way. We have room for 56 fans, but need at least 30 to make the trip. Let's show them how well Torrent fans travel and then drown out their supporters in their own stadium! Reserve your place by April 12 here: https://mkeflood.ecwid.com/#!/Chicago-Mustangs-6-4-Road-Trip/p/63414545/category=0
We'll see if others want to go and if we can set up a trip. I posted a call on our Facebook page for people to coordinate here. I'd love for the big flags to go, but it'll be indoors so we'll see.
What are some of the songs I can expect to be sung at the home opener? I assume "Beer Barrel Polka (Roll Out The Barrel)" is going to be our "You'll Never Walk Alone," yeah?
We have official songbooks. Come stand in the supporters section and I'll get you a copy. We have our own take on the happy days theme and how about some Sex and Beer by Pat McCurdy?
I would like to see the Torrent take on the Bavarians or Eagles. Any thoughts? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
The Bavarians and the Eagles haven't exactly shown the best sportsmanship off the field when it comes to the Torrent. But they're good for developing players for the team. And who knows, maybe if Andreas needs another preseason game next year to help get the team get ready he'll set something up with them. I'd certainly love to see the Torrent win both those games!
Right on with the Pat McCurdy. Do you know if the Torrent decided on a song to play when they score a goal? And any chance it's "Jump Around" by House of Pain?

Andreas Davi and his coaching staff will be holding open tryouts for the Milwaukee Torrent's 2017 season. The tryouts will be held at Uihlein on September 26th, 730 PM till 930 PM. If we exceed our headcount for this session we will hold another tryout. The Milwaukee Torrent's generating incredible excitement amongst the soccer community in Greater Milwaukee. Come out and see what the buzz is all about.

NPSL announce Milwaukee Torrent have become full members of the league after playing in a provisional conference last season
In a recent interview Davi mentioned that investors have approached hime and in the same interview said that hart park will fill their needs for a few years. what do you think the next step for the torent is? USL? NASL or whatever might replace he NASL?
I found that article interesting too. Said he'd have an announcement in a month or so. I think he may bring on another local investor or two, which will certainly further strengthen the organization and possibly allow them to devote more time and resources to marketing and season ticket sales. That would be a great development! Seems like getting more and more people to come out is a big goal this year. Hart Park is going to be a great venue and I hope it'll help with attendance. And who knows, with a few upgrades maybe we could get it to USL minimum standards as opposed to building a new stadium from scratch. Andi has always said he wants the team to move up, but that's going to take a lot more money. I can't imagine there are plans for that yet. We need the attendance figures to go up to convince investors it'll work here. Personally, though, I'd prefer the USL. Rivalries with Indy and Chicago (maybe?) in the NASL would be fun but the league needs to show it can sustain itself. The USL is solid and I love the partnership with MLS. Minnesota United is going to need a USL affiliate, and Chicago will too when their current team in St. Louis moves to MLS. Milwaukee would be the perfect location for either.
I don't love the idea of Milwaukee playing 2nd fiddle to Chicago or the twin Cities. I would much rather see Milwaukee in the NASL. Not only would the rivalries be fun but I honestly think a team in Milwaukee would make the league stronger
I was thinking more like if Wilt''s Chicago team, Milwaukee and Detroit City were in the NASL it would not be collapsing like it is.
The NASL really needs to start showing it can grow. And there hasn't been a lot of news lately on the Chicago effort. I think, given how the league is structured, it would be tougher for us to compete in the NASL. Teams seem to be more evenly matched in the USL and maybe that's because they have different salary rules? I don't like being a second tier team to Chicago or Minnesota either, but if we have our own team and are just affiliated with them (as opposed to being owned by the Fire) I'd be fine with that. Right now we need to show we can come out and support a team. If we can't do that we won't be successful in either league.
