Now that we know the opponents, it's time for Saudi NT to make note of the opponents low points and make use of it to score against them... And Above All, Take all 3 Points in Home matches against All the Opponents by hook or by crook... Start scouting for weakness in the opposing teams and hit them hard from there.

It's good that Saudia starts the WC2018 qualifying campaign with a home match first and then plays Iraq afterwards. If Saudi wins both matches then Saudi Should Also Go For All-Out-Attack against Australia in the home match in Riyadh and kick some *** to take last world cup qualifyer revenge to say the least.

Saudi should start preparing for the World Cup Qualifyer 2 months in advance, and should play games against South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, USA and Holland to prepare well against Australia & Japan.

For me its a tough draw and a tricky fixture. Saudi will be under huge pressure as we are having 3 home matches in first round which is not healthy. If we loose points at home then the second round fixtures will be huge pressure. I would prefer playing first round fixtures play away gather some points and go all out at home..

How do you play against Iraq and Thailand? Apparently you are not satisfied with the venue!

That's a very difficult group to be stuck in, even without considering Saudi NT poor form in the recent years.

Anyway I think the games schedule could turn out to be good for the team. Away at Australia & UAE and vs. Japan at home are games that I don't expect the team get enough points out of, so having these games as the last 3 games might be better if they can win the easier matches before that or at least win the home games, which isn't unreasonable thing to ask.

If they can win the home games vs. Thailand & UAE, and draw with Australia, and then win away vs. Iraq, I think they will be in a very good position to to afford losing points in the last tough games, if that didn't happen then it's unlikely that they will qualify to WC even as a 3rd team in the group. However we are far ahead from the first game in the qualifiers and they are played over a long time so the teams' forms can and will be changing, but to be honest I'm not impressed with van Marwijk's work and I don't think he can secure the WC goal, and the FA are dumb enough to make whatever decision they think of too late, so I'm not in the optimistic side.
I think Iraq's game will be played in neutral place, just like their last encounter which I think was played in Jordan.

The group will end like this:

    1.Japan
    2.OZ
    3.UAE
    4.Iraq
    5.Saudi Arabia
    6.Thailand

    Yes, I am that pessimistic.

Little old news - Mar Wijk renewed contract with Saudi FA and will submit detailed program of how is going to train the team for upcoming qualifiers.
I can't be optimistic or opposite of this decision. As he now knows he going to stay for long, he has to concentrate now to select good players in the camp and impose discipline.
Qualification is distant hope but he cant go out without a fight.

Some new faces in the squad.
Too bad some of the old faces are ruined by their current club for e.g., Nayef Hazzazi, Ahmed Al Fraidi, etc. otherwise, they still had potential to become permanent in Saudi NT. ... Al Ahli's Islam Siraj also is a potential player not picked up... he is a dangerous player not to be missed out (if he's Saudi citizen)

How do you guys rate Bert van Marwijik as Saudi NT coach so far?

    Positives, negatives? Noticeable changes?

Okok.. he has not got any challenge so far.. Our qualification group was a cake walk with only UAE team to play for . Plus no strong friendlies , he has not able to justify his role. Upcoming final round may be his good test.

Why , is he in negotiations with any Korean club?

The person who did that lives in UK near Sheffield, Rotherham, Mexborough and uses Sky Broadband ISP. I have a feeling the person should be Iraqi.:) It is next to Swinton town, so he might be Yasir Kasim!:D
