This would be a sweet jersey. If/when they get to make a true custom jersey, this should be one. Love the font and block numbers. http://www.soccer2000.com/store/3200-RS-23!S&S/CHICAGO+RED+STARS+3/4+SLEEVE+BASEBALL+TEE+#23
Unconvincing, but a win nonetheless. Johnston was complaining to any player or coach that would listen to hear about something. I think there may be some defensive problems they'll need to sort out. Dames also pocketed a sub and put on a sub for a sub. Plenty of players are gonna be tired. Cara Walls was also seen limping into the locker room earlier than everyone else, not a good sign for her.
This strike by DiBernardo was picked as the W-League's Goal of the Year. 665757230600425472 is not a valid tweet id
http://chicagoredstars.com/chicago-makes-it-two-straight-with-1-0-defeat-of-orlando/ Great game, good energetic crowd. What a difference a World Class Goalkeeper makes. Alyssa Naeher kept the young defensive line organized and came up with some big saves. Last night the whole defense was POM. The rookie, Katie Naughton was solid and steady taking over for Julie Johnston and Arin Gilliland didn't let Alex Morgan breath. And of course the Captain, leader and best player, Christen Press took the team on her shoulders, scored the winning goal, as well as organized play all over the field, from my point of view. Our superstar was better then theirs on this Sunday night in Chicago!
First half, Press was playing Center Mid with Huerta and Hoy up top. Second half Press was the lone striker and Huerta and Hoy spread to the wings. Press looked more comfortable and effective, and a lot more dangerous, as a striker.
Re-watching the match on YT and it appears Arin Gilliland is also wearing a captain's armband. Is this right? Something new - she is co-captaining? Maybe they are taking turns with co-captains since Press will miss time with NT. I am enjoying watching the Red Stars' back line very much. Also happy to see Sam Johnson looking like herself out there.
We were confused as well. It almost looked like the entire Orlando team had a "C" on their sleeves, but we figured it out.
This: http://www.unusualefforts.com/nwsl-marketing-strategies/ I'm a teenage boy who loves women soccer. It is very hard for me to get anyone else excited about it. If the NWSL markets themselves better, Red Stars games might not just have fans on one side of the pitch. This is possible, but I'm not sure if the league will risk it.

What did people think of the game? Another great golazo by CP, amazing clears off the line - a little luck in the Red Stars' pockets at times. Concerned about our offense - a lot of teams are struggling to score this season, but we have 4 goals in 4 games - one of them an own goal and the other 3 via Press. What is going to happen once she goes back on NT duty after week 5? Will things start to come together upfront for Huerta and Hoy? Looking forward to seeing Amanda Da Costa increase her minutes.

Nice write-up on Chicago from SBNation: http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2016...eek-6-scores-results-report-chicago-red-stars
Nice article indeed! Wouldn't have minded a mention in the article of the Casey Short acquisition! She is having a great impact!
Red Stars are honoring Michelle Wenino Lomnicki prior to the June 12 game, which is great. One of the best parts of the league is getting to watch the play of these many excellent players who are committed to the game in spite of not receiving the money, accolades and attention (limited though it is, even for them) that some players reap. I had not followed the college game in quite some time, and so was totally unfamiliar with Michelle prior to my first "live" exposure - a pre-season round robin in April 2014. Her play caught my eye right away and she was a great addition to the squad and a true positive contributor whether she was on the field or off. Glad that she is getting some recognition from the organization. I am sure that MRAD will confirm that she is indeed, one of the nicest people you could ever want to meet.
I will confirm 100%. Very, very nice person and always has the time to answer a question or talk, with a smile on her face. She was available and signed for kids after EVERY game, whether she played or not. Michelle Wenino Lomnicki is a real role model for any player present or future that wants to become a true professional.
I'm from Indiana and will be in the Chicago area this weekend and am considering bringing my family to the RedStars game. That said, the weather report right now predicts rain. Can anyone tell me how covered and thus protected from the rain are the seats at Toyota Park during the NWSL games?
I have not been there in real rain. It seems like as you move further back from field side there is a possibility of being at least partially undercover. Your best bet is to speak with the ticket office folks and let them direct you. Certainly the stuff at the keeper end is completely uncovered.
I liked Wenino. as a player -- although I have no insight to her as a person. I always thought she did a good job on the flank, and was a threat to score with headers.
