In about two months time the Euro starts....
So a new thread is warranted I guess to keep things clean.

Just looking at the leagues being wrapped up and the CL going into its final stages - The current form of the players will now be of high importance.
A FEW TOPICS UNDER THIS TREAD
    • Will Schweinie Be fit in time?
    • If not please see Poll and vote new Captain (2 Votes per USER)
    • Will Boateng be fit in time?
    • What system should LOEW Play
      • 4231
      • 343
    • Podolski ????? If you look at my team below - there is just no space there for him ....
    • LEFT wing - Reus vs Draxler vs Schurrle

Anyway please use this thread for the next two months for anything about the Euros.
German NT Line up - 3-4-3
Goal Keepers - Neuer, Leno , Trapp - I think ter Stegen has a bit of a bad patch at Barcelona
Defense - Boateng, Hummels, Mustafi, Rudiger, Howedes, Rudy, Hector, CAN, Durm
DEF MID - Khedira, Kroos, Gundogan, Gintner/Kramer
Attacking/Midefiled - Muller, Reus, Draxler, Schurrle, Goetze, Gomez, Oezil

Thats 23 really just cant See Poldi anywhere here - already left out Schweinie

    --------------Neuer -----------------------------------------------------Trapp, Leno
    ---Boatneg--Mustafi---Hummels----------------------------------Howedes, Rudiger
    Rudy----------------------------Hector--------------------------------Durm, CAN
------------ Kroos------- Gundogan----------------------------------Khedira, Kramer or Gintner
MUller------------Oezil----------Reus--------------------------------Draxler, Schurrle, Gomez , Goetze (where is Poldis place here?????)

I don't know how it is gonna work, but We need Draxler in the starting lineup, too good of a player to leave on the bench

I would prefer him to Reus

Draxler is a special talent with size, skill, creativity, composure n shooting

Maybe Loew should find a way to field all Reus, Mueller, Oezil n Draxler in the starting lineup

With Gomez, Goetze, Schuerrle off the bench.

    3-5-2

    ------------------Neuer
    ------Boateng--Mustafi--Hummels
    -Durm----------------------------Hector
    -----------Gundogan--Kroos
    ------------------Oezil
    ------------Mueller---Draxler

    Sub:

    GK) Trapp, Timo Horn

    DF) Rudiger, Schmelzer, Tah

MF) Emre Can, Khedira, Goetze, Schuerrle, Bellarabi

    FW) Gomez, Reus

    Backup:

    GK) ter Stegen, Fahrmann

DF) Plattenhardt, Sven Bender, Sule, Huth, Weiser

MF) Castro, Leroy Sane, Kramer, Kimmich, Weigl

    FW) Volland, Stindl

Draxler is on form at the moment agreed , am sure he will get lots of game play at Euros if he can keep this form. Allot will come out through Jogis preparation camp.

In a 451 the 6 midfielders/ attack could also look like this :
    ---Kroos-Gundogan
    Reus--oezil -Draxler
    --------Muller

I think that would be a very difficult side most teams to contain. All four attacking players can play anywhere up front and the positional changes would confuse a lot of defenses.

True but leaves the defense exposed. Could be a good formation against weaker teams or if behind in the knockout stages...

    I'd replace one of Kroos/Gundogan with Khedira/Kramer.

    Neuer
    Ginter-Boateng-Hummels-Hector
    Gundogan-Kramer
    Reus-Ozil-Draxler
    Muller

Subs:Leno, Mustafi, Can, Kroos, Gotze, Schurrle, Rudy, Volland usw.

Any which way I think our midfield/attack with current form of Draxler and the rest of the gang is very good ---- we need to get our defence in order ... Then we might just get another trophy..
And hopefully Jogi is as smart as we are or smarter [emoji12]

Have to share this one as well. 3-4-3
    Neuer
    Boateng Mustafi Hummels
    Khedira, Oezil, Kroos, Gundogan
    Reus Muller Draxler

I would love to see this just once at least!

The truth is it's more a 3-6-1 than a 3-4-3. It's a reaction to outnumber the 4-5-1 in midfield. If you have enough midfielders, both wide and central, this gives you an advantage in possession even against other good possession sides without losing much penetration going forward. In this scenario you have a toral of 11 players running in midfield. This is why you also need players that can hold possession and combine under much pressure and in close spaces. I think only Spain and Germany can play this formation currently.

I don't think a Dreierkette at the back solves anything. That system asks even more of the defensive wing players than a flat four, physically as well as tactically. Yet we would be looking at essentially the same pool of players for both systems and with Lahm retired none of them is more than a decent first division player.

Considering Boateng's and Hummel's skills on the ball a possession game with them, Kroos, Guendogan and two Lahm-like central midfielders like Can in the defensive winger position may look tempting. Jogi tried something like that in the friendly against the Ukraine a while ago though and it didn't work out. Basically it would be a Mittelfeldriegel like the Spaniards used in 2010.

The available squad is best suited to a more attacking play imo. Remember the Euro 2012 group stage: People ( including me ) were puzzled about the focus on crosses into the box. The point was probably to establish more variety in goal scoring chances. Defending gets exponentially more difficult if you have to block the through ball passing game of Jogi's early days as well as crosses and Rückraumpässe.

Anyway, my prediction is that we will see something resembling the 4-3-3 structure at the Euros again, but with a higher defense line than at the 2014 WC and two balanced or attacking wingbacks instead of four central defenders.

I agree with moving Gotze to the bench in order to have Draxler in the starting 11. I'm a firm believer in form and Draxler is having a fantastic season at the moment. Gotze has preformed admirably for the national side and would be a fantastic super sub.

Yes, muscle tear in his thigh. Last two major tournaments now it looks like on our elite wingers will miss out. Reus in the World Cup and Draxler this year.

They said Draxler should be ok by the time the tournament starts ! Can is doubtful , schweinsteiger also not sure .

Anyone know how boateng is coming on ?

See Gundogan should be ok , see is being subbed in already !

Boateng is back in team training. He might be available for the second leg of the CL semifinal against Atletico. Assuming he does not suffer any setbacks in training, he should be fit to start at the EM.

Loew says he is concerned by the many injuries the squad currently has...
How are some of the other favourites affected with having their full squad available .
    England
    France
    Belgium

We aren't really one of the favourites but at the moment our injury woes are/will be limited (touch wood). KDB, Hazard, Kompany, Vertonghen, ... returned to action and should be well-rested + have enough match rhythm. Benteke could return on Sunday but Origi is the biggest worry (disgusting Funes Mori tackle) ... Klopp not ruling out a return before the end of the season though ... still we'll either start with Batshuayi or Lukaku up front.

I don't watch Dortmund too much but when I watch Reus is out of it. I'd use him as a super sub to make way for Draxler.

I'd wait for Reus to underperform for the NT before yanking him. Yes, he didn't have a great season, but he also didn't have a terrible season that warrants him getting benched either.
