30 in 60 would barely put Janssen at 50%, which is barely fifty percent, which is the bare minimum asked of world class strikers. RvN only scored 50 percent as good as he was.

I'll be very happy if Janssen pounds in at least 55% or better. Preferably 1 in 2.

(or maybe he can yank in even more ;))

    Exactly. So here we agree.

This is the last point of contention as far as I can see. I do not remember Makaay as this striker that occupied like 2 defenders all the time. That this looming danger that he presented translated in substantial defensive contribution like we could say from a Robben. Robben really makes the defensive line of the opponent less bold, more conservative. Then you might say that is compared to Robben, does not mean Makaay did not do this up to a certain point as well and in his own way, posing a unique threat. However I do not have memories of how opponent coaches always said that they changed the tactics as a result of Makaay. That instructions for the 2 CB's changed or that I saw a weird conservative shape in the field. Or that I saw 2 guys with him all the time. Maybe that his personal opponent build in more space between him, or actually defended more short and tight. Different tuning. I can even imagine that maybe even in some games both CB's made arrangements with each other to counter the speed of Makaay. But overall, to really highlight a special defensive effect that he brought with him and quantify it as substantial and consistent I would disagree with. I preserve that characterization for only a handful of players actually.

Willems should really start to play as a CM from now

He isn't going anywhere with the LB role, he will always be mocked for his horrible defending like Van der Wiel is being mocked.

I don't understand why he had been playing as a LB for so long while he started as a CM fustal player.

If he developps his frame, then he can become a kind of Lassana Diarra, with less defending but better technical abilities.

I think Buttner is a better option than both Van Annholt and willems. Though he is facing fitness issues at Anderlecht, in big games he is the kind of player you can expect to rely upon. He is kind of dual footed which gives him the option of cutting in or going out while PVA and will ens are one way traffic.

Im jus hoping Van Gaal doesn't arrive on the scene here other ways the door will be permanently be shut for Buttner.

After these 2 matches I guess Zoet should be # 1 in goal although I have doubts about him.
That said Cillessen has a losing mentality and has played so poorly.
Ajax praying they can unload him for half of the 20 million that ManU was rumored to offer last summer.
Blind mentality as Coach is so negative. Stated England as strong opponent. I just don't agree with that.
Need a vibrant Manager who plays progressive football. Pressing, athletic, dynamic movement. The type of football Oranje played until recently.
Get rid of the slow guys. Klassen, Blind, Luuk De Jong, Clasico.
Stop all the negative unecessary back passing.
Play whatever system is needed to win. These players should all have enough tactical acumen to cope whether its 3-5-2 4-4-2, or 4-4-3 that is my hope.
Study film of France Danny like Van Gaal did vs Spain. Get prepared to get a result.
