You Brits should start Vardy & Kane up front, and you MIGHT just win the Euro

Koevermans? Is he that bad on ball? Koevermans was not fast, I think Jassen is a bit more mobile.

The only positive thing I can say is that the team tried to play forward passes. But when you get pressed and outpassed by England of all countries it's time to worry.

The Koevermans at AZ, not the old slow one at PSV.

    I see some similiarities

I'd be upset if this was done against us in a meaningfull match, which this wasnt, and also we did it, but clear foul nonetheless.. First ball contact is in the third pic, the foul is mostly shown in the first.

edit- all this in a second from and from that angle, this is not shoulder to shoulder battle, this is hard inkomen / bodychecking

But is there any significant real contact in pic 1? It is the start of a kind of hip body check, but where is the real contact there?

The first pic is anticipation. He was moving to the ball. I think it was a 50/50 duel and the right call.

well its exactly that, the start of the body check. Look at the legs in the first and second picture, he isnt getting the ball or anything, he is only going to take out the defender. Purely taking out the defender, coming in with great speed/force from the side, ball hasnt even arrived yet, that screams foul to me.

I think his leg is stretched in the first pic to get positioning. Not to trip the defender. He then uses it to stand strong and use his body to win the duel. Can be called, but it is not as 100% as for you. Can be called, can also not be called. I think that defender asked for it. He went to the ball as an old lady. Janssen showed will to win the duel and got rewarded.

I agree and +points for Janssen for tenacity, but thats not something the ref should take into consideration..

Dont think anyone said anything about tripping, but the bodychecking is what it is about.. When would this ever be allowed except for perhaps a shitty friendly game like this?

I had an appointment with my physio so I just finished watching the match. No major surprises but a decently played match for the most part. Willems is an awful defender but we already knew that; I would have preferred seeing van Aanholt get the whole match as I'm not convinced about Willems quality. Zoet is no better than Cillessen and he's a bit worse in distributing the ball. Veltman had a really nice match as did Blind and Bruma.

The midfield is a total disaster. They did not defend well and were lazy with their passes. It looked pretty much like the way the Ajax midfield plays which is not a complement at all. Affelay was most disappointing for me given how decently he was against France. Bazoer had one nice play in the middle of a lot of mediocrity. Wijnaldum either plays as an attacking midfielder or he doesn't play; he was totally at sea.

Because of the horrible midfield play the forward line rarely got the ball in dangerous situations. Hard to judge whether Jansen is up to this level though his penalty was one of the best from any NT player that I've seen which is a plus. Like the way he pushed Jagielka to the ground on the second goal though he should have been called for the foul.

Veltman should have drawn a PK for the take down by Rose in the early part of the match. Even the English match announcers said as much.

Big problem for the Dutch is finding capable midfielders!

there was alot of talks about Willems being on radar for Man City (Pep), Liverpool, Newcastle. after todays game the check book will go inside the pocket gain:eek:.

vardy goal, he was wondering in the middle of the box.

Well I kind of disagree with that. Look, if you go into a duel and it is both aggressive, then everything on top of that is easily a foul. Now it was a situation of an England defender running and defending like an old lady. The aggression of Janssen was not over aggression. It was just that the other acted weak and expected to get a ref call for any semi contact from behind. Body to body duels are allowed in football and if Janssen put in work to get a strong position, then good for him. I am not saying it can not be called, I say it is a 50/50 call. I have seen defenders that act weak and expect to get the call from the ref get punished for their nonchalance before. This happens more than you think.

Very few countries have a winning record over England. We do.

This is a lot more fun than whining a whole campaign about how much we suck. W's make you feel good. More please (and Blind out).
