I am willing to give the players a five million dollar salary cap raise just not the current group of players but better players.

And most players are mercenaries and the quality ones don't really suffer from relegation - short of shopping for a new apartment. The fans, for the most part, are the ones who really suffer the consequences of relegation.

How the instant replay guy defends the Davis non-call is silly. That was probably the worst ref decision over the weekend.

watch the replay- chad marshall got the ball first and then the whitecap player fell over - not a penalty; jones trip was bolanos tripping himself or toeing the turf

the seattle PK that should have been rewarded was in the second half and the whitecap player had his arm out wide when the ball struck his arm

however, knowing the MLS refs, vancouver will get the wrong end of the calls- there will be a payback

Well, not only that, but if you are a player and somehow you are convinced that playing shitty the last few months of a season means you are going to be suiting up the following year and not riding the bench, or not finding your way out of the club against your will, you are delusional. And the above post is right on - the vast majority of teams do not get eliminated until the very end of the season, so this is ridiculous.

As a corollary to this, I often find it strange and I guess somewhat mystifying when someone claims that pro/rel will cause the players to play that much harder at the BEGINNING of the season as well, because every game is important. If the players haven't realized by now that they face the real possibility of being eliminated from the playoffs due to GOAL DIFFERENTIAL, and apply that realization to dropping points early in the season, then they are truly stupid. With parity, and the historical results over the past few years, I would think that every player is thinking that every game is important - even without relegation.

When it comes to pro/rel in MLS, I'm all in favor of it. I would argue it's necessary and important element in the league's growth for the league to pursue promulgation of it's regulations.

Well hell, that's an interesting g point too. I'll go to a neutral corner and mull it over before saying,"a little bit of both."

I am hating the change to Dunseth for instant replay. His opinions have been very strange and he covers only 4-5 games out of 10

Why is it that every time an MLS team buys a player, you get these "Tim Howard, is it worth it?" type articles? I mean, MLS is cheap and they rarely spend real money. It's not like MLS is spending huge amounts on transfer fees.

Do football writers go around writing stories like that every time an NFL team pays a bunch of money for a player?

It's not the ref's job to keep you in the game.

For players, one added incentive is that under the CBA they get money for every regular season win, not just if their team qualifies for the playoffs.

It feels refreshing to see an International Champions Cup schedule without any MLS teams involved.

The average BS poster is pretty much clueless about how things really work in the game, but has no clue that he/she has no clue.

Still seems like the copy is written by Borg but it is weird they're not doing all of the games. MLS videos have been especially shitty this year for some reason.

Really? Borg stated his opinion on every call. In week 3, Dunseth mostly just laid out the facts and only opined a few of the calls.

I know and like both men, but I prefer Borg's Instant Replay to Dunseth's.

Did that really say Inter Milan vs PSG in Eugene, Oregon?

Where are they going to play that one at?
