A good article for @appoo and @MatthausSammer to read... http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/22/marco-rubio-cant-win-nevada-caucuses-us-election-2016 Conventional wisdom – as well as the Cruz campaign – tells us that Rubio is an Obama-like figure – all hope and change and fine speeches. In reality, Rubio most closely resembles another Democratic candidate from the 2008 cycle: John Edwards. Before Edwards became tainted by sex scandal, he was a masterful campaigner with a pitch-perfect delivery of a stump speech about two Americas: one prosperous, the other trapped in poverty. Edwards delivered each rendition of his stump speech with identical timing and hand gestures. Every watery eye and dramatic pause was calibrated to sweep his audience off their feet. It worked – as long as you only saw him once. After that, you felt hopelessly manipulated. Rubio’s delivery has an Edwards-like quality. He places his hand on his heart when he talks about himself, as if to demonstrate the sincerity of his convictions. He emotes so deliberately when talking about how your family is just like his, there really can be no distance between you. ----------------------------------- Sadly for Rubio, not enough of them are voting for his American dream. That may be because he is a moderated version of the two candidates ahead of him. He is not as apocalyptic as Cruz and he doesn’t promise as golden a future as Trump. Rubio is an old man’s idea of young man: a fresh copy of an old Norman Rockwell. He is neither youthful and forward-looking, nor old and backward-looking. In other words, a perfectly good second-best. That is probably why he's dominating the donors' circle: Billionaires see him few times, see his stump speech once and he matches their idea of a youthful latino candidate.
The only problem is that Marcobot is not going to win many more... See the polls.. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...xas_republican_presidential_primary-3622.html http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...ida_republican_presidential_primary-3555.html http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...hio_republican_presidential_primary-4077.html
Texas was probably never in the cards, Florida is exceptionally outdated, and Ohio is unique with an exceptionally popular governor running.
Look, I 100% agree that Marco needs to start winning, and I also agree that it doesn't look good for him right now. If he still isn't able to put a couple Ws together on Super Tuesday, then I'll be the first to say "game over" and get out my pom-proms for Hilary. Until then, I will hold out hope.
Maybe I was wrong. The latest poll for Tejas shows Marco, Cruz, and Trump running a pretty close race. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...xas_republican_presidential_primary-3622.html
As for Edwards, I saw him at a town hall-style event when I was still in Tucson. It was a nicely prepared speech and presentation, but felt false - like it was an act, right down to the last question by a 6 year old (and my though was "Why is a 6 year old here?" before the event started). She asked "Why do you want to be President?" And several people let out "awes." The staging of that - the entire event - was insultingly blatant and what really turned me off of Edwards. And fundamentally, one that is more staged will be found to be less than the others.
Please tell us, what are the best features of the Marcobot? http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slat...ame_any_of_marco_rubio_s_accomplishments.html
If the Donald and Ted Cruz, both of whom have accomplished virtually nothing positive politically, are in this race, why does Rubio even need many accomplishments? Rubio's failed immigration compromise>>>Anything these guys accomplished, because that at least demonstrated a willingness to work across the aisle and get something done. Of course, if we were to view fillbustering and shutting down government as accomplishments, then Cruz is enormously accomplished, but something tells me you're not looking for that. EDIT: It'd be totally different if we had a field that looked like a sane Republican would draw up, like Jeb, Ryan, Kasich, etc. Then we could talk about Rubio's lack of accomplishments relative to those guys. But relative to this field, Rubio is FDR in terms of accomplishments.
One endorser ( a congressman, don't remember his name) was asked this morning on MSNBC the usual 'one accomplishment this past year" question. His reply was "well, none this past year, he has been campaigning."
No. Cruz and TRUMP are running a close race. Rubio is 10 per cent behind 2nd place (15 behind 1st). That's not the stuff legends are made of, 6 days before voting begins (and Texas has tons of early voting, so many of the people have already long voted for Cruz and Trump).
I just don't see the point in bantering about it when virtually the entire field (bar Hilary) lacks accomplishments. Even Sanders accomplished little relative to how crazy-long he's been in politics. Its just not that kind of race at all.
You didn't read the whole thing. I said "ACCORDING TO THE LATEST POLLS". Did you not get that? Look at the top poll, it shows a very competitive race. EDIT: With that being said, I see your point about early voting.
Well, one thing's for sure. It's about time that the posters here finally came clean and admitted that a young, minority, first-term Senator with minimal accomplishments is a very poor choice for President.
So did he know exactly what he was doing or did he just repeat the same stomp speech all the way to his position?
It depends on how intelligent they are. And whether they are a religious fanatic. And how much they lie.
I can't think of anything congress has accomplished over the past year. And for the gop, that is the accomplishment they are most proud of.
I disagree. I think many first-term Senators with minimal accomplishments could become great Presidents. I think Marco Rubio would make a poor choice for the job because he can't show up for work and he has no motivation to run outside "resume building."
Support for MarcoBot 4000 will end March 3, 2016. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the MarcoBot 4000. It is very important that viewers and partners migrate to a modern candidate such as RomneyBot 4B. Viewers moving to a modern candidate will benefit from dramatically enhanced establishment support, higher likeability, and a lower sarcasm detector glitches through improved cognitive dissonance capabilities. http://www.rawstory.com/2016/03/fox...s-says-network-is-finished-with-rubio-report/
Goodbye Rubio Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you.
