Yes, but already in this tournament we've seen that they're a noticeably weaker team than the one that held the USWNT to a goal back in WWCQ. Also in the past three years, every single game they're had against Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico (and Guatemala for that matter) was won by just one goal, often in extra time or with a PK. That's not a solid #5 spot. The fact they got the "5th spot" in the WWCQ campaign say nothing about how much stronger they were over the "#6 spot".

Remember, back in the WPS days, people were saying similar things about Jamaica being the "clear" #5. We see now it definitely was not "clear".

Premise: I'm going to believe it only when he'll be gone for good.

Anyway, as SiberianThunderT noticed, FMF is worried JUST NOW?
Quite the insouciant federation, so far... :cautious:

same. I'll believe it when I see it. Mexico also got screwed over by a crappy draw. But they still should have beat Costa Rica. The draw should have been: Group A; United States, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico. Group B: Canada, Mexico, Guyana, Guatemala.

17' 1-0 #9 Belanger fast cross from 11m wide right bounces over a 1-v-2 distraction at spot, to -- #12 Sinclair trailing unmarked  at 10m 6-left. Sinclair chests the bounce at 8m 6-left, standing half-volley topspin drive through traffic into 1/3 right. They completely lost track of Sinclair :(

43' 1-0 Yellow card on #20 Wendy Acosta, for spin-tugging Sinclair down at box top mid-left.
45' 1-0 Yellow card on #10 Shirley Cruz.
45+x' 1-0 Yellow card on #10 Ashley Lawrence, for a tackle near midfield.
    HT 1-0.

52' 2-0 #8 Matheson collects a bounce at box top wide right, quick step past the line to 12m, soft cross toward 8m center -- over #10 Lawrence's head, but nobody thereat to prevent the bounce. #5 Diana Saenz, forced to turn inside from her RB 1-v-1, lets the bounce happen, tracks it over her head, tries the spin-ccw-180 right roundhouse clearance -- but slices it early, all backspin and no distance  Ball drops to unmarked #12 Sinclair's head at 15m center, she pokes ball to 12m above head-high, spins to shield Saenz off. One juggle left foot leftward into wheelhouse, spin cw and left roundhouse volley -- over #1 Diaz's fingertips, off crossbar center, down into center back low. Sinclair, she can still juggle --

72' 2-0 RB #5 Saenz spins away from 1 through 8m box right coming away, #11 Scot slide-tackles but trips her with contact. Penal!

72' 2-1 CRC pk, #11 Rodriguez right instep thunderous blast into back left edge as McLeod dove wrong. Even guessing right wouldn't get there in time.

82' 2-1 Canada subs in (1 of 3) #14 Melissa Tancredi for #12 Christine Sinclair.
83' 2-1 Canada subs in (2 of 3) #15 Nichelle Prince for #13 Sophie Schmidt.

85' 3-1 McLeod fk at arc top own box right, CRC misjudge the jump ball at circle back mid-right -- ball bounces untouched behind everybody! Prince bends in from right touch, takes ball through box top right to 12m -- soft diagonal pass to 7m 1/4 left for #6 Deanne Rose winning her race through box top mid-left, behind ball and onside. Rose slides and -- totally shanks her shot, but it's a perfect soft lob past Diaz charging out, floats into 1/3 left back like a dandelion seed. A Panenka in the run of play -- kids these days :p

90+3' (of +3') 3-1 Canada HC Herdman wanders to the edge of his coaching box, adjacent to the sideline microphone. Egad.

FT 3-1. Canada trot out, Sinclair limping visibly with a bag of ice taped to right ankle. Canada qualifies for Rio, the 8th team of 12. In the post-match interview, Herdman is confident: "so onto the final against the US" :D

People wrote off Sincy last year. With CDN's youth movement now starting to mature, she will have increasing support each year. Still lots of maturing to go, but each year they are only going to keep getting better and deeper. Very encouraging for the future. Congrats for qualifying to the Olympics.

So, is there a clip of Maribel Dominguez's bike goal anywhere?

Have not posted any comments for ages. The last time was about my observation that Dunn was wasted in outside full back position and should be played upfront. It took months for this to come true. Now having seen the difficulties USWNT was playing against Canada in the first half, I like to make some remarks and hope that they will help. What I see is that US lack speed in that their players tend to hold the ball for too long before passing, in that player like Heath carrying the ball forward trying to show off whatever skill she thought she had in passing opposite players and then had to pass the ball back or just across, and inability to shoot from outside the penalty box so that the opposite defense will have to cover a much larger area instead of just packing in front of the goal. I hope I can see players like Kealia Ohai who has the speed and the ability to score goals outside the box taken into the national team. I only hope the coaches will take this seriously and not to delay implementation for months and months.

When does it occur in the game? I don't have time to watch the entire match, but would like to see the goals.
