Mexico goals from Garciamendez, Rangel, Johnson, and Dominguez (3). Dominguez at 37 is still a goal-scoring powerhouse! US goals from Morgan (2), Lloyd (pk), Dunn, and Press.
Highlight videos: Mexico-Puerto Rico: US-Costa Rica; CONCACAF also has a video but honestly, the USSF one is better as it shows the (incorrect) foul call that led to Lloyd's PK
For those of us that live outside the United States the stream from NBCLiveSports was not available. Does anyone have a work around or another link that you can post so we can watch tonight's game of Trinidad vs Guatemala ? We know that all of Canada's games will be live streamed on CBCSPORTS.CA Thanking you all in advance for your help. 19
For non-US residents here, it is geo-blocked. You'll need a VPN to simulate a US IP address, and then you'll be able to access NBC Live Extra.
2016/02/11 Thu Guatemala - Trinidad & Tobago 15' 0-0 T&T totally dominating vs. Guatemala's two 16-yr-old fullbacks. GK #1 Yoselin Franco already has about five stupendous reflex-saves. 17' 0-0 Totally against the run of play, #8 Jennifer Muñoz drives down to box left foot, #14 Karyn Forbes slide-tackles her over. Ball rattles off Muñoz's heels, stops just inside box left and just over the line (sliver of green grass visible) -- but the spherical surface of the ball is still breaking the rear plane of the endline Ref Domka never blows ball dead, Ka.Forbes calls for foul or gk -- sees Domka not giving ck, picks ball up to set up a gk. Aaaaand -- penal!! 17' 1-0 #9 Ana Lucia Martinez pk, right instep into back left low as GK Kimika Forbes dove wrong.
There actually are precedents for aforementioned sequence: 1. 2008/06/15, Peace Queen Cup, Brasil 2-1 Italy: 2. 2010/07/29, WWC-20, Germany 5-1 South Korea: Search Women's International forum for string "for the ages" <= not kidding, that's what I did
Well, so you have to edit your previous post and state that Forbes gives away a PK for the ages! Or how will you find this post when you'll be looking for it 6 years from now? Grumble... ok, ok, you won't actually find that post, but you're going to find the one after it... ok, but technically is a slip-up from you anyway...
Canada 5 -- Guyana 0 Goals from Lawrence (3) and 16-year-old Rose (2). No goal from Sinclair to pass Hamm. Youngsters Fleming and Carle also got into the game. T&T 2 -- Guatemala 1 Guatemala's goal from Martinez and T&T's goals from Cordner and St. Louis.
I actually just went back and read those posts of yours from the 2008 Peace Queen Cup (a match you failed to mention here that you attended in person!). Those reports are solid gold, especially since those matches weren't televised. Really a great read. Another rep for you!
After first two goals, Guatemala-Trinidad & Tobago was poised to become "the match with awkward goals", but Tasha St-Louis begged to differ: her goal was a beauty!
Costa Rica benefited from a tired PR who also lost their best player in the first half but even 9 goals weren't enough as Mexico still hold the goal-differential advantage. It should be a good game and I hope Mexico goes through. Costa Rica really must be pissed that the US chose today of all days to play like crap.
Somebody knows a good live stream for Canada vs Trinidad and Tobago ? The CBC sports stream can't work here !
Trinidad & Tobago - Canada 44' 0-2 #10 Lawrence spins into far touch to keep ball in at 15m left touch, sends a cross to 4m 1/6 right. Tancredi poaches from 11m, back-cuts everybody and nods a header down into back right. Cordner caught marking her, and does not have the defense-first reflex?
61' 0-2 Canada subs in (2 of 3) #12 Christine Sinclair for #14 Melissa Tancredi. These old nags 63' 0-3 Canada long ground pass from midfield box left to 25m mid-left, Sinclair poaches perfectly on T&T's awfully high back line, not even marked -- back-cuts everybody, in alone Sinclair dribbles through box top left to 10m mid-left, sets up GK Forbes for the far-post curl -- then passes ball inside near post instead. All they do is score 66' 0-4 Canada cross, Kyle(?) leaps alone at 5m right post, nods a header down, Forbes dives and blocks. Ball leaks wide to 6-right foot, #6 Deanne Rose pounces first and dragback-flicks to 4m 4-right. Forbes gets half-up, sees #3 Buchanan stepping into it, but full-power shot gets under or past her, into back left low. These kids
67' 0-4 Canada subs in (3 of 3) #17 Jessie Fleming for #6 Deanne Rose. 75' 0-5 #9 Belanger sprints alone down wide right to 6m, floats a cross over 4m. GK Forbes flaps at it but misjudges the bend, it skims off her fingertips and drops softly at 7m 6-left. #19 Beckie, trailing unmarked outside far post, leans to gift and heads across mouth into back right low, over Forbes still down. 79' 0-6 #17 Jessie Fleming. What a bitter pill for T&T, but their problems surely transcend this one cycle.
I watched second half of Canada-T&T. Watching T&T play in WWC qualifying versus now is terribly sad. In one year all the progress Waldrum made has been undone.
Canada 6 -- Trinidad and Tobago 0 (Matheson, Tancredi, Sinclair, Buchanan, Beckie, Fleming) Guyana 2 -- Guatemala 1 (Guyana's goals from El-Masri and Heydorn; Guatemala's from Martinez) Guyana's reactions in the highlights make the Guyana-Guatemala video worth watching:
