I also used to wear FG boots on artificial surfaces all the time, for many many years - and without any problems. Then I suffered a few injuries due to studs clinging to the turf and finally started using AG boots on 3G turf. Don´t trust your luck with FG studs working on AG fields, it´s just an unnecessary risk of injuring yourself that you can easily avoid.

I´m sure you´ll like the Nike AG sole plate, it´s really comfortable and the traction is great, too!

I managed to give them a bit of a go - I've got a bit of a funny back at the moment which didn't help I had to cut my session short. I like the sole plate though. Will probably switch to it from now on. It mad how i get the same stud pressure on both soles though - I thought the AG would be more easy going!

I know I've been very very lucky - sorry to hear you guys haven't been!

Not surprising regarding stud pressure tbh. Nike's AG boots feel alot lower to the ground compared to the Fg ones. suspect its due to them using just a single piece of board on the soleplate. I typically switch insoles.

I agree. Lets use the right boots for right surface. I have played also with FG boots on AG, but it felt a bit dangerous.

functions like a normal turf shoe, the leather is decently soft but there's barely any padding so it feels like a thin synthetic.

hoping somewhere here can give me some decent advice,

im a fairly casual footballer with a limited knowledge of football boots, playing 5/6-aside once a week on astroturf. ive been using nike bomba finales for the past 15-18 months but thinking its about time for a change.

after a quick look about, i gather that bombas arent made anymore! i loved this boot, thought it was the most comfy football boot id ever owned on any surface. growing up id pretty much always used some version of the adidas predators apart from a couple of flirtations with nike (total 90s i think!).

has anyone any good advice on what turf boot i should choose to opt for? comfort is the main concern for me and something thats a logical successor to the nike bombas, willing to consider options outside of the nike/adidas monopoly of the boot market!

I played the past 3 months with these.

Pretty durable, comfortable, good touch and shot. Not bad at all.
Before this I wore Nike tiempos

    true to size for me.

Budget? if comfort is the main concern, for me, the Asics Destaque Series are the best out there, can't beat em. They have the Gel tech from the asics running shoes and for me that's the game changer. the 6's aren't k-leather anymore though. but i can link you up to the 5's if you would like, those are still k-leather

if not the Nike FootballX series like the hypervenomX or the MagistaX lines are pretty good. both the Finale's are really awesome, although i am partial to the MagistaX Proximos. Lunarlon is great, but for me you don't really feel it after awhile.

yes it's too bad that they don't make the same upper of futsal with turf soleplate....

also I bought a Morelia TF from Gmarket, I will post impressions when they will arrive.

I've got some Akuna cinquestelle Piuma turf trainers (with their 'T' soleplate) in size 41.5

The quality of the leather is great but the soleplate is too narrow for my tastes so I'm not going to wear them.

If anyone fancies them send me a PM. I haven't played in them but I'd be happy to sell them a bit cheaper just to get some money back

So anyone found any turf shoes they like recently?

This is a never ending search for me. I'm wearing FG and SI Morelias on grass, but I also play once a week on old style astro turf and just can't find anything that I even find comfortable to wear. The sole plate on the new Morelia turfs is described as being suitable for "deep pile turf fields" so I'm guessing it won't be any good on the surface I play on.

Ideally what I'm looking for will:
    1) Have an upper that stretches and molds to your footshape, and caters for a wide forefoot
    2) Offer decent protection
    3) Have a low profile sole.

The low profile sole is the hard part...everything is thick and clunky with a leather upper or have a 10MM drop. More and more low profile shoes are coming out, but they are varations of synthetic - some good, some bad. I am a tad out of the loop on MiJ Morelia sold in Japan, but at one point there was an AS model that was very Mundial Team like. Is this not still an option?

I think the old AS model has been discontinued and replaced by these:

    http://global.rakuten.com/en/search/?k=Q1GB160001&l-id=search_regular

The only reason I haven't tried the old AS model was someone told me it had a raised heal like the Mundial Team, and I really don't like that. Can anyone confirm this?

Maybe I should try the new ones, I'm not convinced that soleplate is meant for the surface I play on though (which is a water based astroturf - ie not AG). I guess it might be ok - what do you think?

I find it unbelievably frustrating that the industry doesn't cater for this. Maybe the Copa 17.1 TFs will do the trick.. I'm waiting for different colourways though.

yes that's the new model although is not made in japan anymore but it seems to have lower profile..
for the surface you play you may need something with small studs like MORELIA NEO KL AG

They are very Mundial like (the AS)...I did some digging in free time and saw the AS seems to be deadstock. I have not used them, so I can't comment on the drop or feel on foot. Also, can't comment on the Mizuno turf outsole that is on the other boots. It seems like mini-blades, which I don't like but Mizuno usually gets it right, so it's a hard one to call.

The Copa 17.1 was going to be a suggestion or a pair of Pantofola Lazzarini (the high end, not the take downs they have out now).

Yep any sort of blades don't appeal to me either to be honest.

Cool thanks - I have been keeping any eye on PDS recently specifically for their high end Pantofola turf shoes, they seem to be running their stock down at the moment though. Hopefully they'll be re-stocking soon.

Or maybe I should get the Copa 17.1 and black them out :)

To be honest the surface I'm playing on needs a traditional turf (TF) soleplate. There isn't really any depth to it at all, it isn't an AG pitch, it is more like the old 80 'plastic pitches' but alot nicer.

Looks like the 17.1 is dropping a black/white/red model in Jan, at least for FG; maybe they will do a turf as well.

I own these in blue, its a decent boot for hard surfaces but you do lose some of the lateral stability that a traditional turf shoe has due to being wider in the sole. That said you get a much lighter boot than a traditional turf shoe. I due wish the entire boot was leather rather than forefoot only and I miss the suede textured liner at the heel that a normal Neo would offer.
