Wow!! Tsubasa Endoh is drafted with the 9th overall pick by Toronto FC. Playing with Bradley, Altidore and backing up Giovinco. By all accounts he knocked it out of the park in the MLS draft combine.

Hmm, perhaps we might make a single MLS thread this march, considering that we have two interesting players to follow this season?

It's not the first time Toronto FC drafted a midfielder from the Terps in the 1st round, the name Maurice Edu might ring a few bells.

Hopefully Endoh can replicate the success Edu had at TFC.

This is really interesting. What are the chances of more Japanese players going to MLS?

Of course, Maryland is a perennial powerhouse. Meanwhile I am certainly surprised by my alma mater's meteoric rise to the pinnacle of NCAA men's soccer!

I think Honda might go to MLS in a few years.

Why should they go there? Failed European careers do or if you could not cut it. An adventure yes. But that you can do when career is going downhill.

A lateral move, yet nothing to lose by learning to play a different style as well as English. It's not exactly as if Bundesliga clubs were banging down his door.

Tsubasa Endoh started on the right wing in Toronto FC's season opener against New York Red Bulls. I only saw a few minutes but he looked quite technical and creative. Later he won a penalty in the 82nd minute, which Giovinco put away to put TFC ahead 1-0.

    PS: he is Olympic eligible.

I was at the game. I was quite impressed by Endoh. Good work rate, tactically well positioned, and tidy on the ball.

One more I forgot about - Zach Herivaux from Suita (i.e. Gamba's hometown) has been making the bench for New England. He has represented Haiti at youth level but is still eligible for the US and Japan.

Herivaux came on in the 86th minute of a 3-0 loss to Philly.
