    Some quick backstory:

Flint's a small city north of Detroit. It, like many other cities in Michigan, was reliant on the auto industry. Hard times came and have yet to leave. Governer Rick Snyder, has a measure called emergency financial managers to step in and assist with cities having hard times. Flint is one of them. One of the cost cutting measures implemented was Flint getting their water from a state run pipeline. However, the pipeline is in the process of being built, so for the time being, the water came from the Flint river.

The problem is, there's a huge concentration of lead in the water. So much so that it's alarming. A few days ago, an article cited 40-odd residents with high levels of lead. And for even further craziness, residents are still being billed for that water.

MLive has decent coverage on the situation. http://topics.mlive.com/tag/flint-water/

Holy crap: $140 per month for water? Our combined water and sewage bills come to $55 or thereabouts. And while we live in a place that has had some serious environmental damage done to it, there is no indications that our water is shortening our lives.

Flint hasn't been looked after in ages. Whenever I have to drive by there I just get an eerie feeling.

    And wait, what?

If we could only get ISIL to claim credit for this fiasco it would get remediation going a lot faster

Who my coworker? Many of my colleagues at work think GWB was our greatest president. The one guy I'm referring to doesn't believe that pollution exists! I've never known anyone who clings so tightly to their beliefs. The man in question is incapable of understanding that he could be wrong on a given subject. He simply cannot be wrong. Ever.

The hallmark of true stupidity is the inability to realize that someone ... anyone ... could be smarter than you are.

There needs to be some mechanism by which Governor Snyder is forced to stand up in front of TV cameras and say "I have blood on my hands."

My suspicion would be that the Snyder administration has worked extremely hard these past few months to erase as much paperwork as possible to make sure they do not end up in a trial (or at least not in jail) ..... certainly working at it much harder than they did at reviewing the science of moving from lake water to river water to supply water to human beings....(who needs science when to some of these people it is a belief system that can be tossed aside as mere opinion?!?!?)

Then hopefully we can add obstruction of justice to the charges against them. With this being P&CE, I'm surprised no one has jumped in to defend the Snyder administration.

I don't know how you could be so disrespectful. Papa mio and the Polish guy next door agreed on only one thing. Ben Franklin had been a POTUS and everyone agreed.....or else! :coffee:

Just look in the comments section of the articles about this posted by the Washington Post. There you'll find tons of folks repeatedly asserting that all relevant decisions were made by the City of Flint, and the State had nothing to do with it at all; and when confronted with evidence to the contrary, simply ignoring it and repeating the assertions anew.
