I would say this is a little different as you sent the old coach outside the team itself. It's not like he's the GM or something along those lines. He's over in the academy, coaching youth teams. Unless it involves the reserves, he should be far enough away to not interfere. And it may be a way to avoid paying a buyout package.

And the academy really isn't generating roster talent -- it's about making money. Because of the draft and college system, it's too far removed from directly developing players for the 1st team.

Excellent post. Perhaps too astute for some.

I understand what you are saying and you are right that his job responsibilities on paper will be completely separate from the first team. My point, which I made very poorly in my initial post, is that Durkin is someone that the Breakers obviously value very highly and his opinion within the organization and the office would still carry a lot of weight. If I were a prospective coach I would not want to walk into that type of environment.

Matt Beard is on the plane to Boston right now with his family. He has a big rebuilding job to do for sure.

I think this one might have been out of their hands. Though they could still have asked for more than the 3rd pick

Yeah, I can understand they might have had to make the trades, but they need to get a better return on them.

Anyone want to discuss our incredible draft? Anyone?

Assumptions? Who is to say they didn't ask for more. No one clearly knows what transpired in all this. And who is to say that Portland really wanted to do this? USSF was determined to try and find a way for the league to handle the Pugh situation. Something that was suddenly thrust upon them, and could the league find a way to make it work. Maybe, no one but Portland was willing to gamble on taking such a young player in this situation. Hopefully, more will come out as to why they did what they did.

That's Jenna Fischer. This Jenna Fisher is probably the BU alum. Claire Pleuler is another BU alum.

Thanks for that. Nice highlight film on Pleuler, clearly a shield and distribute CM.

Breakers posted a one hour "History of the Boston Breakers" video on youtube.

I skipped through it but I did catch Alyssa Naeher saying - 'I was a rookie in 2010 and we're doing the beep test pre-season and I look over and there is Kristine Lilly killing all of us, and she's 39 at the time.'

Going to be a long season for Boston fans.
I hope they become more competitive as the season wears on.

I wouldn't be *too* worried. FSU is usually pretty good; been in the Final Four for the past 5 years running. View it kinda like how the Spirit always had trouble with UVA until just this year: losing by just one goal against a good ACC team isn't something to worry *too much* over.

I think that's the aim, the team will certainly do better than last year, which is not hard though.

    Okay, now I would worry.

EDIT: Wait, I forgot this was a boy's team and not a girl's team they were playing against. Never mind, not full reason to worry yet. The Dash have done worse against the Dynamo boy's academy.

I don't think it will be easy. I expect to see a defensive mindset from the start. Defend well first.
