Just wanted to see what was the take on the Strikers community with the new Miami FC team coming to NASL next year? Do you like it or hate it? Will it bring a fierce rivalry? Thoughts?

I'm not so sure it does anything yet. It really depends upon what the owners and management of Miami FC do.

So, do they hire PMI or somebody with experience building a club from scratch and knows US soccer? How much will they put into marketing the team? Will they hire a competent sales team? How much will they engage any Miami supporter's groups? When does it all start? Where will they play? Do they make a big deal about every decision that the team makes with press conferences and professional announcements?

If they do all of these things well and more - then it has a chance to be a great rivalry. Until they do anything ...no it won't.

TBH, I haven't really thought about it too much. Yeah it was big news and I look forward to a rivalry and an away day but that is about it. There is really nothing there to hate.

I am more interested in what those in Miami think about it. I know (and understand) the desire for MLS and maybe it will come... but in the meantime, what are the thoughts of the NASL team? Something to follow until Beckham arrives? One of the first sites I checked was the Southern Legion's website for a statement but there doesn't appear to be too much activity happening there.

Yea. Southern Legion will follow in the NASL side, I believe they are concentrating on the MLS side till it isnset in stone, Miami MLS had it rough when Marcelo tried to partner with Barca and the whole thing fell through.

Im sure ince the MLS team is concrete the SL supporter group will evaluate further on Miami NASL, go to the games and support them 100% till the MLS comes, hey practuce makes perfect.

Interesting if a bit harsh... SL is going to support the NASL team until the MLS comes along? Then why bother? I understand the desire for professional soccer down south but if a stadium deal is looking like it is done, then why have a stop-gap?

It's a Miami thing. No one else will ever understand (and, possibly don't really want to).

No, Lucho. We do not care what Miami does. We have another total rebuild this year and are much more concerned about that than anything that happens to the south.

Probably so. For the few years it lasts it could be amusing.

Antique, you are not upset right? About the things I said years ago about Miami getting a team? How it freaking came true?! Now we about to have two teams and The Strikers to the north, how a rivalry like this WILL start a beautiful thing down here in South Florida, including North Florida with their three teams, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Orlando City SC, and Jacksonville Armada? Antique, lets embrace this, years ago this state was left with no teams, now we have 5 possibly 6 (Miami FC). I would have never supported the Strikers, im sorry, it would have never worked.

You have the Strikers and 5 Rivals within the state. All these teams will be fighting for supremacy of the State. You know it will be fun, especially the US Open Cup, we will most likely play every year and the winner would most likely have to face OCSC since they are the only MLS team in Florida, im sure when Miami comes around, Strikers may face them as well. That doesnt excite you that the Strikers can possibly knock out a Miami MLS team (Miami FC)? Rivals? no? Strikers will be fine they will survive

The MLS team should not be in Overtown. The location will have to be proven to be better than most people north of M-D think it is to get many of us to go there. Plus, with no onsite parking and an insistence that we take a train and walk is not looked upon as the way to go. It will take time and several years of successful demonstrations of the viability of all this to get many people not in M-D to go there. Enjoy your team. It is not necessarily designed to be ours.

The Strikers will survive as long as the NASL survives. I have no idea what will happen if the league dies.

I do not see 2 teams surviving in M-D. We expect to have fun w/Miami FC until MLS Miami gets going. We expect Miami FC to die soon after.

Sadly, you over-rate the Open Cup. Most teams in the US really don't care one way or the other. It is unimportant to them. I wish that this was not the case. That competition could be the thing that binds all US fans together. Currently it does not. (As an aside: the new regime running the Strikers intends to emphasize the US Open Cup & make it as important as winning the NASL title. I hope other teams start doing the same.)

All the NASL competitions will be important, of course, and will be worth a road trip. The games against Miami FC will be especially so since they are our closest competitor. The team says they will assist fans wanting to make a road trip to any of the Florida NASL teams. I hope so. I guess it is part of a push to increase the fan base.

Basically, I am skeptical and have adopted a wait and see for any and all of this. Too many failures have occurred here in the past. Too few fans in attendance for any number of reasons. A seemingly ridiculous location for the MLS team for non Miami-Dade residents - Miami FC has a better one - and a desperate need for the Strikers to get a better home for themselves ASAP. We all love Lockhart, but recognize it is an antiquated dump.

The saving grace may be that the people running the teams, especially the Strikers, now seem to be professionals that know what they are about. Only time will tell if this is the case. There is absolutely no way we can honestly predict how all of this will play out. At the very least we think it will be interesting. We csan only hope that it works out to everyones benefit....:)

LUCHO: FYI....the Strikers start their Spring Season at home on April 2, 2016 vs Miami FC. You folks get a road trip to start the season. Drop by and I'll see if there is a free beer for you....;-)

im also excited to see where this all goes. im hoping miami fc survives once MLS is in town. they too have a group of professionals running the team. like ive said before, theyve done a hell of a lot better job promoting this team compared to the previous FC Miami. i can honestly support both miami teams and cant wait to face the Strikers.

The week after FC Miami plays the Strikers we have our Spring Season bye week. FC Miami opens at home vs The Tampa Bay Rowdies that day. There are more than a few Strikers fans that intend to come down and celebrate that event in our own way. We, much like you, very much want FC Miami to survive (and all of the NASL teams, including the Rowdies, to be honest). We'll add or own small contribution to that cause. However, for all of that, please do not be too upset or surprised if we root for both teams to lose...;)

It would be cool if the Florida cup featured all the teams from Florida. That would be something I'd be very interested in.

Currently the cup is mostly reserve/youth orientated no?
