I see MLS live is up with discount. Since I'm not sure I can continue to watch the vomit the Rapids keep putting out on field, I was thinking of going this route to watch my choice of other MLS games.

Can I play this on my TV with one of those streaming do-dads?

What is the quality of the broadcast?

    Thanks

Best deal in sports. I got a Roku player a couple of seasons ago and stream it through that to my TV. Great quality, every game (other than nationally televised ones) live, condensed matches within a couple of hours after the game finish, highlights within minutes after games finish. Also works on computer and phones/tablets (requires iOS 8 for iOS app)

I agree; MLS Live is really good. The one drawback is the blackout policy. If the game is on national TV, the live game typically blacked out on MLS Live, though you can watch the replay and condensed games later. And of course Rapids games are blacked out in Colorado, but that may be a feature at this point.

I've not tried streaming a game on the computer or tablet and then output to TV lately. Quality seems very good when I watch on the tablet when traveling.

I imagine quality is great on all set top boxes that have an MLS Live app (Roku, Apple TV and chromecast); I only have experience with Roku. I don't watch MLS Live every week, but when I have, the HD picture is generally flawless--it's not like streaming through the PC when occasionally you get pixelation during a game.

Anyone else have pixelation issues or slowdowns on Roku/AppleTV/Chromecast? People in the MLS N&A threads speak pretty highly of the quality.

Ditto everything JasonMa said. If you like all of MLS and not just one team in particular, MLS Live is a fantastic investment if you have the time to watch games. $65 for access to most of the games live, and all of them on replay? It's really a great deal. In terms of streaming to TV, I have a Chromecast and the quality from the iPad to the TV is usually excellent. I absolutely love it.

According to MLS, the Rapids blackout policy covers "Altitude Sports broadcast region and national TV matches." I'm not sure if this is a broader blackout than last season.

The teams that are actually worth watching have few blackouts, other than the league policy of national matches.

MLS Live broadcast quality is good. It's sometimes refreshing to hear other announcers do the games, and for certain the camera work is better for most of the other teams.

Same as last year. Because Altitude is a regional channel that blackout area is fairly large (Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, etc.)

Emphasis on "sometimes". I cringe any time I turn on a San Jose or Houston game and get their announcers. IIRC, Chicago's are pretty bad too. It's hard to believe that the league has been around for 20 years and they still can't find announcers who actually understand what's going on.

Yeah, that'as for sure. The SJ announcers pretty much make everybody else sound OK. The mute button sure comes in handy on those games. A lot of the time, I'll watch MLS Live and also live stream a good radio broadcast of the match.

I wish the league would lift all the blackouts and simply stream the national broadcasts (commercials and all) live. MLS Live would be a better package if it targeted cord-cutters. I understand the realities of the TV contracts and the poor bargaining position of the MLS relative to the other sports leagues, but maybe someday?

One of the best features of MLS Live is the ability to skip all the pregame and halftime garbage. It's fun to run replays and break down some of the key plays in games. It's also fun to watch a team's games in succession and see how some of the teams are coming along during the season. And it's especially fun to watch games NOT involving the Rapids, since the beautiful game hasn't been very beautiful locally for the last two seasons.

I think the National TV blackouts are here to stay for the foreseeable future. That exclusivity is what keeps fans from cord cutting those networks.

I do with the league would step in on the local broadcasts and lift the blackout restrictions. Especially when you get those 1-2 games a year that get tape delayed due to an Avs and Nuggets game at the same time. There's no reason those of us with MLS Live shouldn't be able to watch the Rapids live in that scenario.

Agree, the MLS is looking for those big National TV pay outs like the others have, they need the ratings to get it.

In my experience, any of the paid streaming services working with a roku is really good quality. (Set top boxes must help with caching or something.) Esp. given cable as the alternative--you won't tell the difference. I've only had experience w/MLB.tv and MLS.live among the major US sports services, but the quality is great. Netflix, Amazon Prime, ditto. I assume the NHL/NBA services, HBO Go and Hulu Plus are the same.

So both locals Lindsey Horgan and 17yo Mallory Pugh have been called into the senior women's camp. Several folks here have mentioned them before.

Unreal the ladies side talent we currently have here in Colorado.

Dolphins owner letter to STH sent today:

"I had high expectations headed into this year and the on-field results have been disappointing... for you, our staff, our coaches, our players and alumni players, and certainly for me," Ross writes. "Through it all, your support has been unwavering. We had capacity crowds at every home game and thousands of you joined us on the road. Everyone at the Dolphins appreciates your consistent loyalty and support.

"There are no shortcuts or magic formulas to winning. I know it will take hard work for us to get where we want to go and I can assure you that everyone at the Dolphins is working hard to honor the proud winning tradition of our great franchise.

"We are going to conduct a thorough process led by Mike Tannenbaum to select our head coach that will not be constrained by convention in our approach. This search will be thorough and we will take it wherever we need to go. I appreciate everything Dan Campbell has done this season and he has earned the opportunity to be considered for head coach. We’ve also identified several promising candidates and will begin work immediately."

This makes me wonder: has Stan Kroenke ever written a letter regarding the Rapids? I can't recall one.

Ya it was the note that accompanied the Franchise in Josh's Christmas Stocking. Quote "better you than me" unquote.

Just discovered HBO's John Oliver, here is his coverage of public financed stadiums.

His FIFA ones are outstanding too.

Eager to see how this pans out. Granted there is constant movement of players between Senior squad, Real Madrid Castilla (reserves) and Real Madrid C but Zidane's squad was relegated to the Segunda B (3rd division) last season. He didn't set the world on fire with RM Castilla despite some very, very good young talent at his dispersal. IIRC, there was some controversy over the favoritism showed toward his son, Enzo, who many view as a marginal talent.

So you're saying there was a lot of head-butting going on behind the scenes? :p
