Will Fishlock be staying for the playoffs at the cost of not playing for Frankfurt?

    This question doesn't make sense.

Why will Fishlock be playing for Frankfurt in September? Her loan spell over there is done and she left last week and will join Seattle this week after her international match.

Even if she where to be loaned back, you think Seattle will let go a player doing the most important games so she could play a couple of games for Frankfurt at the start of their season?

OK, let me put it this way. If Frankfurt wants Fishlock back and Fishlock wants to go back but only for the full season, will Seattle let her do it? Probably not. So where does that leave Fishlock? I guess she could play in Australia again.

She may even have a bigger impact then Horan on the team?

Unless she unseats fan favorite Betos for the starting 'keeper role, I doubt it.

If Portland is going for Franch, it's not to sit her on the bench as a backup.

With how good Franch was, one would logically think so. However, Betos is pretty good too and is coming of "best GK of the year" while Franch has the "injured" spectre still hanging over her as well as having less chemistry with the team. I find it hard to believe Betos is just going to sit most of the year.

I'm inclined to agree with you. The Thorns fanbase would lose their minds if Betos got entirely replaced. Hopefully they'll be good competition for one another.

Which is why I do not get this move. For be both Franch and Betos are really good young keepers but Betos does have the edge and intangibles on her side. Why the need than to bring in someone like Franch to fight for a starting spot? Not all competitions can be good especially in a position like GK.

I wonder if there's a business aspect to this. If I'm Betos, NWSL GK of the Year, I'm probably thinking of negotiating for more $$, especially since I probably haven't been getting paid much. There's a salary cap, which means any increase I get is coming out of what another player(s) will get. If I'm the Thorns, I'm thinking I need to keep my bases covered in case I can't work it out with Betos.

And, I wonder if Angerer is a factor somewhere, as the GK coach. Why not have her work with two very high level keepers. One of them may become trade bait, especially if she's received top level coaching. And, I've seen Angerer work with Betos, and Angerer is going to be a great coach.

I would think it would be cheaper to afford Betos + Rookie versus Betos + Franch. Also, you don't lose the extra player when trying to acquire Franch.

After watching Horan play the midfield position with the NT , any thoughts on how that might impact her role with the Thorns. I assumed she was being brought in to play forward. Who did they plan to have fill that role with the team.

At midfield they've got Heath, Brynjarsdottir, Shim, Long, and probably Cruz. I think they'll need her up front more, where their best other option right now is Taylor, if they can keep her, and an aging Sinclair who may well be gone for the Olympics.

    Any updates on that?

Amandine Henry may be playing in NWSL before most would assume.

What leads you to believe that will happen?

Now that Franch has been selected for the WNT camp, do you think someone knew in well in advance that mightn't happen?

US Soccer may be reaching a point with Solo, and all her off the field controversy, where it may be necessary to start looking for someone to replacement her. Maybe they want to see how stacks up ag
