    wow...still pretty impressive:

    http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sp...ty-fc-spearheads-stadium-renovation/76593970/

In one month, they’ve already raised nearly $250,000 from more than 125 investors, putting their goal well within reach. The ownership group won’t gain access to that money until they’ve passed the $400,000 mark, but the club, which has seen its annual revenue triple in four seasons, from $170,000 to an estimated $520,000 in 2015, will use its own reserves to begin construction soon.

if they come in short... i think someone will make up the difference, whether its DCFC funds, or a white knight from somewhere... it will be cool to see how the revived stadium helps the neighborhood... and potentially the bars and restaruants around the stadium..

Detroit City FC is the epitome of cool (I'm wasted right now, but I stand by every word I type).

What is cool? picking a recycled team name like "City" and nicknaming yourself "Le Rouge". Sounds like a bunch of soccer nerds or hipsters with no identity trying to be British or foreign. I don't think we will see this team in MLS probably NASL.

Mutiny was a league owned team that couldnt find an owner.... that eventually was put to the sword by the league it self.... if that's originality... you can have it... Tampa Bay was given a top flight team in a market that supported soccer in the NASL heydays... you guys had your chance and chose not to support it. so the league pulled the plug. Detroit has started from D4 status, is trying to finance their own stadium, and is hearing whispers of people wanting them to go to the 2nd level (NASL) of soccer in the states... their ownership has made connections with FC United of Manchester for a game this summer in Detroit in their new stadium, and fans of the Portland Timbers want DCFC to play in their annual spring tournament based on how well the club is supported. the club is named Le Rouge harkening back to the french roots of Detroit, so they arnt TRYING to be foreign, they are embracing the city's french roots...

    BAH!

yeah, thats all pretty hipster and without merit....

BAH and more BAH! I won't support your team. They should bring back the Detroit Express to NASL not Detroit City. The Express actually had decent attendance, not Cosmos like, but it was decent.

? The Detroit Express lasted 3 seasons and folded 35 years ago. Plus it sounds like a minor league name.

Which is what Detroit City is. Also the Express had decent attendance much more than you guys.

But the Express wasn't, they were D1. Being top flight was probably a contributing factor, they also played in the 80,000 seat Silverdome. Detroit City plays in a 7000 seat stadium and is going supporters through grassroot efforts. Not everything need to be nostalgic, somethings need to stay in the past.

It looks like Detroit City FC will have a couple new rivalries.
    AFC Ann Arbor

    and Kalamazoo FC

    and Grand Rapids FC

I like how AFC Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids FC were created at the grass roots level as community founded projects.

Edit: Anybody interested in getting a team going in Jackson?

Co-owner Sean Mann was just interviewed and while he admitted that they've been approached there is no agreement yet on being included in the MLS plans:

considering all the effort and exploration DCFC has put into the detroit soccer market, it would be a damn shame if the DCFC owners are not involved in this MLS team... hopefully the big money boys "buy" the DCFC club, infuse it with money, and have a big name MLS club with the original ideals of the DCFC owners and supporters.

I was there! They definitely weren't prepared for 7000+ people, although I'm not sure why. They had to figure on at least 6k. Whomever is in charge of the math behind number of concessions stands and port-a-jons needs a new calculator. Still a good time, though.

    Midwest, the real one.
Why does it look like 1/4 of the stands are tarped off?

They were. I think they're still repairing/renovating those areas. That's just a guess though. When it's completely finished, I think the capacity is supposed to be over 10,000.
