That's really impressive, for a football club in Europe to be able to make 7.3 mil profit off a 29.3 mil turnover.

The Glasgow Rangers should get this guy as a consultant.

That link was the club's 'budget,' not the actual financials.

Can someone who speaks spanish tell me which budget line represents gate income? Is it the 'abonados y socios' line at 1.685.000?

From what I understand, 18 mil of their 29 mil revenue is from TV, 3.6 mil from player sales, 2.9 for advertising and either 1.6 or 0.9 mil from gate income? I don't quite understand those first two budget lines.

Either way, it's interesting to see a budget of a mid-table Spanish team, i've never seen one of those before. Such an unusual budget. If I understood those 3 lines correctly, 85ish % of revenue from TV, player sales and advertising, i.e. they barely rely on their local fans.

'abonados y socios' I believe means subscriber and partners. Subscribers are season ticket holders. Partner may potentially be season ticket holders who contribute additionally into the club.

Partners may be like charter members within country clubs here in the states -- they pay dues for social privileges.

That's it, in a 15 K stadium selling (some) season tickets for only 100 euros

That's much in line with more US sports than it is with MLS.

Ticket revenue for an NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB game wouldn't cover the day's salary on the field for players / coaching / staff - it's the TV revenue / merchandising / sponsorship / licensing / PSL's / luxury box leases that pay the salaries

You're exactly right. Rayo benefits from the TV revenue that Barca/Real Madrid bring them. Let's not sugar coat it ... their revenue is based on being in La Liga and their ability to stay there for 5 consecutive years has got them out of bankruptcy. As long as they can stay in La Liga, they'll likely "make money". The longer they're able to stay there the more money they'll be able to use in stadium upgrades and other things. If they drop ... they'll likely have issues at Rayo AND OKC ... so I guess Rayo OKC fans are now fans of Rayo and are rooting for them to stay in La Liga!

It's definitely the direct opposite of MLS, but it's also extreme even compared to NFL, not to mention the other more gate focused US sports

NY Yankees: 53% of total revenue from gate receipts
    Boston Bruins: 41%
    LA Lakers: 32.7%
    Green Bay Packers: 18.7%
Rayo Vallecano: 5.7% (if I understand that budget correctly; using the 1.685 mil line)

Not surprising, given stadium condition. Probably not much F&B revenue there either (I don't see a separate line for those in that budget -- maybe it goes to municipality given the stadium is municipality owned?).

I wonder if the owner just doesn't believe that the neighbourhood can give him a much higher gate income in a better, privately owned stadium. Either way, he seems to be making money, so good for him, maybe not so good for fans.

That TV share should go up even more significantly for lower end La Liga teams over the next couple decades, compared to gate receipts, concessions, merchandize and other local income. Real's and Barca's TV revenue is frozen for the foreseeable future, in order to give more money to these wee teams. Might be even less impetus to invest into spectator experience.

I'd be really curious to see budgets of other below average La Liga teams, like Malaga, Getafe and such. With no Spanish though, I wouldn't be able to find them.

Rayo Vallecano has a lot of experience avoiding relegation, always interesting the moment the USSF brings in promotion and relegation :D

I've spoken with some folks who say that a giant monster will attack the West Coast, too.
I'VE spoken with "some folks" too. One of whom is part of the ownership group of Rayo and they are very excited about the upcoming season.
Way to put out an unsubstantiated tweet as some kind of news, dillweed...

ManuSooner, if this giant monster attacks the West Coast, will it make it all the way to OKC? Because this pending monster attack may actually cause the team to fall apart by March if it is not held at bay on the West Coast. Just saying...

Considering all the incorrect "inside" info about OKCFC you've posted from your unnamed "sources" over the last couple of years, should you really be calling out anybody else's?

I thought this when I read his statements as well.

I also thought ... I bet the guys at Enron probably were excited right up until the point where they weren't! The guys in the original NASL were probably really excited too, until it collapses ... if you're not excited, you'd not put money on the line about it ... but excited doesn't mean it's going to be a success either.

Kartik is about as unreliable as they come. Not sure why you guys keep using him as a source.

So we have one person, from Minnesota, who says he has third hand information say the sky is falling. Then we have someone, from OKC, who claims to have first hand information say everything is all good. Now who will we trust? Well board consensus seems to be the guy from Minnesota with third hand information.

I don't really care, but said guy from OKC is saying it's someone within the ownership group/stakeholders (or at least he leads you to believe that) ... no shit they're going to say everything is sunshine and rainbows ... they've pumped him full of that crap for 2+ years ... why would they tell a fan anything different? That being said ... his very biased point of view may in fact be right ... I'm not saying it's not by any stretch. I also have no reason to believe the guy from Minnesota, although it's not like he has any previous biased views against the NASL so there's no reason for him to just feed the trolls in that way either.
