We should have a REAL Soccer Bowl. Rochester v Cosmos to determine the top non-MLS team. Two legs ! USSF, you game?— Kartik Krishnaiyer 🇺🇦🌻⚽️ (@kkfla737) November 16, 2015 Where does this title rank the @NYCosmos in the US Pro soccer historic pecking order. The very top? Close? Not close?— Kartik Krishnaiyer 🇺🇦🌻⚽️ (@kkfla737) November 16, 2015
The REAL Cosmos are somewhere near the top. This corporate cash-grab? Probably somewhere around 634th
As annoying as that idiot is, I wouldn't mind seeing NASL v. USL in a two-leg "ULTIMATE D-II SHOWDOWN," especially if USL gets D-II certification.
It'd certainly be the quickest way to kill the NASL bandwagon, which is why I'm surprised he's even suggesting it.
Not that I don't understand where you are coming from, but there is some irony here. We should all be fans of soccer in the USA. Men's, women's, MLS, NASL, USL, etc.
But, NASL doesn't want us to be fans of MLS, they want MLS out of the way because, reasons. It's hard to respect a league that treats the rest of the soccer landscape in the USA so disrespectfully.
Kartik has lost touch with Planet Earth. Seriously. There's just not much else to say. Pointing out how absurd those idiotic comments are would only lend them a credence which they don't deserve. Pure rubbish.
But without NASL, there would be no Freddy Adu threads and without Freddy Adu threads, there would be no BigSoccer.
Before class starts (and sometimes during) we often talk about soccer. Yesterday one of my students was commenting how there are just too many competitions going on for him to keep track of: World Cup qualifying, European Championship qualifying, MLS playoffs ... .He then commented on the simplicity of American football (how virtually no one else plays it) but immediately then referenced how there's only something like 11 minutes of actual playing time in it, which is why soccer is nice.
