I disagree. I think Ibarra can hold his own very well. He also has an exceptional shot on that left foot.

He's just as fast, but he's not as strong as AV. In my opinion, I think Ibarra can cover that side just fine. He's an intelligent player and not selfish on the ball.

With that being said, Mena would be a disaster. I'd still like to see Enner front of the net- it's his best chance to score a goal, which we'll desperately need from an Uruguay defense that's tough!

Did anyone watch the Espanyol game earlier today? that team is a hot mess but I got to say that Caicedo is playing smart futbol, he creates danger, let's hope he carries this carries on.

Regarding Antonio Valencia injury, Martinez or Ibarra are the logical options.

Call-up is supposedly coming out on the 4th. I see Ramirez being called up if memory serves right he's scored an assist and a goal this past month. We need a secure confident replacement for Ayovi asap, one injury and it could spell trouble for us in the long run. A win against Uruguay will motivate the team to pick up 3 points in Venezuela. We have a good chance of securing 12 of 25 points which is usually the minimum for that playoff spot.

The formula has always been simple win every game in Quito (total 27 points) and any point elsewhere covers any shock losses or draws at home. The 3 points from Argentina and Venezuela (if we win) might come in handy if we have a needy Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina who might desperately need 3 points later on. Heck we might need them if we lose of draw to Uruguay since we all know they are more than capable of taking 3 points in Quito.

Solid list, really surprised to see J. Angulo and Quintero, surprised to see that Ramirez was not called up since it looked as if we were working on him long term, also I would have brought Luis Romero instead of Bagui

Ibarra picked up an injury which puts him in doubt for the Uruguay game. Quinteros is looking at the possibility of Enner playing on the wing

So Valencia might need surgery. How unfortunate, right when he was beginning to pick up rhythm

That sucks but it's not that bad for the NT since the next qualifiers are several months away. It's bad news for Manchester though, he had been doing very well this season.

Enner Valencia was carried off the field in a stretcher. He is doubtful for the Uruguay game

Arroyo has been injured and Jonathan Gonzalez has been called up. That makes Tono, Enner, Ibarra and Arroyo unavailable for these qualifiers. Looks like we'll be seeing Martinez get a full 90 minutes on the wing.

Dominguez; Paredes, Erazo, Achilier, Ayovi; Martinez, Castillo, Noboa, Montero; Caicedo and Bolanos

Fidel is on a hot streak, saw him play yesterday and was involved in both goals,he missed a third that he should have passed, but understandable that he wanted to bag one in.

The news just stop. Juan Carlos Paredes was taken to the emergency room early in the morning after falling of his bed and hitting his head. It appears that the player is fine.

The key to getting all 6 points is beating Uruguay, they'll have the confidence to pick up all 3 points in Venezuela. Uruguay have been training with the following 11

Muslera; M. Periera, Coates, Godin, Caceres; Sanchez, Rios, Gonzalez, Lodiero; Cavani and Hernandez

Ecuador trained with the following XI
Dominguez; Paredes, Erazo, Achilier, Ayovi; Martinez, Quinonez, Noboa, Montero; Bolanos y Caicedo

There is media speculation that Ecuador are covering up how Paredes actually got injured (possible fight within the team). Now i hope it was something as silly as falling off the bed.
