She did? Dang.... Too bad. ---------- Anyway, I'm definitely thinking that a Krieger-for-replacement-Harris trade seems to be brewing, considering there's still GK silliness going on apparently. If Orlando is indeed courting Franch, that would give them three GKs, including two starting-quality keepers; Wys in Washington is good, and would probably start ahead of Bledsoe, but I bet they'd put Franch ahead of her if that was the trade going to happen. Besides, for Krieger, I bet the price would be hefty.
Seems like too many forwards, though we would expect Morgan to miss some time at the Olympics. Sanderson plays #10, I guess. So you would figure Kyle at CDM and Sanderson at CAM with Morgan and Hagen as the starters. Only three defenders so far, and then Evans fits in at either defense or midfield. Any chance Spencer or Fields plays outside mid? Certainly feels like at least one more trade in the works, if not two.
I do not think Orlando can afford Krieger without sending at the minimum a starting US player plus other trinkets. So if Bledsoe is trade bait, it will be either to Washington for non-Krieger field player. Washington have ton of midfielders like Da Costa, Huster, Lohman, Matheson, Nairn, Okobi, Salem. And than there are swing players like Del Rio, Dunn, Orgega, Raso, etc, that can all play in the middle. I can see Orlando trading for a couple of those players which they couldn't get before due to the Harris pick. Also, keep in mind Gabarra was the one who signed Bledsoe.
Getting Kreiger would help their defense Well, I never said it had to be a one-for-one trade, just that Krieger-for-replacement-Harris would be the main feature of the trade. I did say I expected Kreiger to be expense, so unless Orlando is picking up Franch to use in the Kriger trade, I'm expecting Washington to get more players or draft picks in the process. Or maybe international slots to keep the Nigerians plus picking up someone else. It's also worth noting that Krieger might "want" out to be with Harris, which would decrease her trade value...
Hopefully Orlando is up o date on the drama. No way Lohman goes to Orlando if Sanderson is staying there.
But even Franch + picks + international slots won't cut it. Washington already have a bloated roster and do not need more players. What they need are superstars. So unless they are packaging Franch with Hagen, I don't see who on their roster they can package together to get Krieger. The most likely scenario is they wait a year and hope to win the Lavelle/Buchanan lottery and trade that for Krieger.
The team went after the "best players available" regardless of position. No trades in place for anyone picked, but they expect to get some calls. Sermanni said that Sanderson does not take up an International slot. Why would that be the case? Also, he said that they had no agreement with KC, but some of the KC players are considering retirement which made choosing them difficult. Finally, he would have like to pick up a couple of the Australian players but they would likely be gone for the Olympics putting more pressure on the roster while they were out. I'm assuming he meant because there are already some other players they expect to be out for the Olympics. http://www.themaneland.com/2015/11/2/9659484/orlando-pride-happy-with-expansion-draft-results
Sermanni will definitely pick up at least one Australian player. He loves Van Egmond and Heyman, and of course he loves Kerr, Foord, and Simon. He may have to settle for Laura Alleway instead. They need central defenders. Pressley is not all that anymore.
Lianne Sanderson will be in the midfield. Jamia Fields is an attacking outside mid for Orlando. Kaylyn Kyle and Maddie Evans are defensive mids. They can use one more outside mid, and one more center mid. But they need center backs more than anything right now. Hemmings is best utilized for Orlando as an outside back. Pressley is a reserve quality central defender now. She's the rusty 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix that continues to be sold for cheap or traded in cheap from dealer to dealer.
I'm a little disappointed Orlando selected Fields instead of the rights to Tatiana Coleman.. but I'm assuming Coleman wanted to stay in France.
It still could happen, if in fact, she is available, and they want her. I am still curious if something is still going to happen with AD Franch.
Alright, with Monica helping the back line now, we're up to 13 players: 2 GKs, 5FW, 5DF - and 1MF. Who are you hoping helps bridge that gap? Orlando still has 3 international slots, too... I'm kinda hoping for that Costa Rican Penn State senior Rodriguez.
