Where are we getting this Omar wants to leave infomation? If anything I'd bet that if he had to leave on a trade Bruce would do him like he did Mike Magee and let him go to a team of his choice and Dallas would make the most sense as that is where he is from and still has family there. However, I am willing to bet that Omar doesn't want to leave and would likely consider a renegotiated contract that paid less money yearly but gave him more guaranteed years. Another option could be a loan for part of the season. UGHH!!! I really want this Omar situation to work out well.
Very interesting quote but this might be just the ticket. When the team took one of its three designated player slots from Gonzalez to sign Dos Santos in July, it had to spend five years' worth of league allocation money to pay down Gonzalez's contract and squeeze it under the league's $3.49-million payroll cap. Though that money is no longer available, more salary relief could be coming from the MLS Board of Governors, which is expected to consider awarding teams hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional allocation money when it meets Dec. 6.
Ahhh the feels...This was my FB share exactly 3 years ago...Can we just turn back time? https://www.facebook.com/lagalaxy/photos/a.159525452034.129080.9893397034/10151073534807035/?type=3
According to Clément Diop's Twitter page, André Auras is leaving Los Dos and from what I understand, he's actually leaving LA.
I think you're a little bit harsh on Bruce's veterans : - Cudicini, Angel, 2015 Buddle and Ricketts, Mathis, Sanneh : I agree, they were garbage. - Hejduk : was brought to be Franklin's backup and help us in our first CCL group stage. He was not stellar but did his job. - Kirovski : I agree he was often bad and played too much minutes, but he's doing a good job with the FO, wasn't he a big part of one of our signings this season (Gio?)? - Noonan : fifth or sixth striker in 2012 (Donovan, Keane, Magee, Buddle, Barrett, Cristman were also here), and one important stoppage time goal against Dallas to save a point during the regular season. Helped us in the CCL. See Hejduk. - Lewis : the name I disagree the most! He was one of the veterans early brought by Bruce who performed immediately and helped us to reach the Cup final in 2009 (so did Dunivant, Berhalter, Dema, Klein...). - Mastroeni : again not a stellar second half of 2013 but I think he was decent. - Robinson : acquired in a late trade with Toronto for a young defender (Kyle Davies), he was our fourth CB and IIRC he played only one game... Hard to call him a failure. - Vanney : was brought by Gullit and was waived after Bruce took over. I agree Bruce may love too much his veterans. Some were great signings (Berhalter, Dema, Lewis, Todd, you can add Gordon too), but he completely f***ed up on Buddle and Ricketts. Almost everybody here saw they have passed it.
I saw that too. I was hoping he would move up the 1st team. Curious to see what's going on with that.
Kirovski’s overall contribution was minimal, but he scored two game winning goals while he was filling in for Landon & Edson who were away on national team duty. We won the Supporters’ Shield by 3 points that season. Now to be fair those game winning goals came in multi-goal wins and there’s nothing to say no Kirovski or a better player than Kirovski wouldn’t have scored those goals and then some, but the point stands Kirovski played a very important part in LA capturing the Supporters’ Shield in 2010
At least there's more space for academy players. I think that's something that needs to happen this summer with G2. The FO needs to make some harsh decisions on who we project as having a future with the first team. I'm looking at guys like McBean, Bowen and Covarrubias. Give their minutes to players like Martin, Fujii, Amaya, etc. I'm more interested in developing talent than keeping players around who likely won't ever be anything but an option off the bench.
^ This. With McBean in particular I think it has come time to fish or cut bait. I have not seen much development in Bowen's game and, frankly, never understood why Covarrubias was on the roster in the first place - unless he was just holding down a roster spot as a semi-serviceable USL player until some academy kid developed to replace him.
I remember he scored the first goal in a 4-0 win at Seattle with a long range shot and a mistake by Keller. Then two goals (one header inside the first minute of play) against Houston in a 4-1 win at the HDC... The well remembered Alex Cazumba scored his only goal for us in that game.
There have been rumors of Penedo returning. I wasn't as high on him as some were and think we can do just as well with a new keeper but without the baggage. Granted, he's probably coming back hat in hand but I still don't think it's worth it unless we just have no other options. Another tidbit in there is that we, unsurprisingly, have declined Ricketts' option for next year.
And bottom line: he's better than Rowe or Ricketts, and better then Kennedy or someone like that. If there ins't a bigger fish on the line, then welcome back.
I never thought I'd welcome Gordon back let alone consider him a cult hero, so I can't say a few lights out performances from Penedo won't make up for his ditching the team, but I can't help but think we could do better.
Did you watch us last Wednesday against the flounders? We had significant flaws and that is why we are here now and not talking title #6.
I figure he owes us half a season at minimum player wage, and then depending on him if he can redeem himself? Pay the man Bruce!
If he DOES come back, it will be interesting to see the crowd's reaction to him. I suspect there will be a significant amount of booing.
