...and another shitty first leg of MLS conference semifinals comes to an end. No mention by Joe Buck yet. Commercial break. 11th inning.
OK....I have to get up at five to talk to some clown in Germany tomorrow. As Mac would say....good night bitches!!!
Is he still generally stingy with the subs? He seemed to use them sparingly when he coached the Rapids.
Well, it's not really a tie. FCD needs a win -- and not a one-goal win if there are a bunch of goals -- next Sunday night.
Not really. I could be wrong, but I think tonight was the first or second time this season he hasn't used all of them. I'm really at a loss why.
DCU vs NYR - Thought it would go much worse for DCU. POR vs VAN - Figured it wouldn't be quite that boring. MTL vs CLB - Wasn't sure what to expect. SEA vs FCD - I was thinking FCD would get a result here. In sum: <shrug>
Exactly. And it would tell the teams that spend money, that bring in the players that actually put butts in the seats and, more importantly, eyeballs to the TV that they can be upended by a cheapskate discount franchise that spends nothing, invests nothing, basically freeloads off the other teams in the league.
By "spends nothing," you mean "spends their money on their youth system," right? You're almost in self-caricature territory at this point.
the order for next Sunday: DC at NY Red Bulls, 3pm ESPN Montreal at Crew, 5pm ESPN Seattle at Dallas, 7:30pm Fox Sports 1 Portland at Vancouver, 10pm Fox Sports 1
Sounds like a sore loser to me. Teams like NYCFC and TFC have only themselves to blame. Horrible team construction that can't be undone by one or two mega signings. There are avenues to winning with superstars as Arena has shown repeatedly, but in the end the league should be happy when the better team wins. Rewarding front offices and coaches who do a good job in building teams is in the ultimate long term best interests of the league. Rewarding superficial teams just reinforces bad practices that do more harm than good ...
I live here and was going to protest this statement... but on the other hand there are a lot of racists here. Still, we're taking in a higher percentage of refugees right now than almost anyone else except Germany and Sweden and 70 percent of the country is okay with it. Is it really any worse than the U.S. where 30 percent of the country is okay with demonizing Mexicans and with cops shooting black kids?
I think having a final with FCD in it - with a TV rating that makes the SKC-RSL 2013 matchup look like the last episode of MASH - would qualify as more harm than good. The league needs to start rewarding teams for spending rather than letting the cheapskates handcuff them with the salary cap.
