Nearly 18 months after this post, here's what Ottawa has done: (You know what the spike was, obviously.) Stadium..............G...Total...Average..Median...High....Low Harris...............5...13,418..2,684....2,432...3,457...2,158 TD Place............13...66,287..5,099....4,277..14,593...3,023 TOTAL...............18...79,705..4,428....4,054..14,593...2,158 Since TDP Opener....12...51,694..4,308....4,242...5,269...3,023 Ottawa can, demonstrably, draw 3-5k every game, but only occasionally more than that. I would neither be optimistic they will do a whole lot more than that nor that Hamilton would be in the upper echelon of NASL attendance. (At the moment, only Edmonton is averaging less than Ottawa, and if Hamilton is talking about having something to talk about in 2016, it will be a while before they actually put a team on the field.)
Why is that? As for Ottawa, they're average is pretty good considering the team has no promotion and marketing what so ever. The 5000 average they get is all viral and 100% effort from the supporters group. The CFL ownership group doesn't want anything more than that for fear it might eat away at the share of wallet the Red Blacks hold on the city.
That's the unfortunate thing about all this. It's a situation where the owners rather have the stadium at 90%+ capacity for the football team and a 5000 (enough to keep the team afloat) average for the soccer club instead of having 14,000 averages for both. I'm not saying that would occur 100% if the teams were equally supported by the ownership group, but that's probably what they think would happen. However, Bob has a lot more vision when it comes to his plans for NASL Hamilton. He wants this unlike the Ottawa Group who just got the Fury people to tag along as validation for their stadium development.
Flower city supporting hogtown by vicariously believing stripper tears and failed dreams can out-finance the valley. (If you don't get this then I'm sorry, I swear we speak English) Otherwise I pity your support for an expansion in a city that is A) worse than yours & B) the armpit of the great lakes Sorry, Seriously Sorry....
There is no way possible that Hamilton compares to Gary, Indiana. I've been all over the US and Canada, and I can honestly say that Gary is the biggest shit hole I have ever seen
He got the expression wrong. I've heard Hamilton referred it as "the armpit of the Golden Horseshoe" or Hamilton and Oshawa as "the armpits of Toronto." But I've driven through Gary. There's no comparison. That's before considering much of the rest of the Rust Belt.
In Ontario Province, Hamilton is one possibility, but there are others, for example: - Halton is a more neutral location. Between Missausaga and Hamilton. I think "Ontario Lakers FC" could be a good and broad name.

Don't worry, Hamilton can play against NASL teams as soon as the Americas Champions League starts up, right? I mean, Midfield Press had an op-ed on it. It has to happen.
