Anyone ever tried the Adidas Pure Leather pack? Particularly the Nitrocharge. I am interested in them (as they are the only model i can found) . Myself has never worn Nitrocharge before.
Just got my pair of X15.1 in leather yesterday. I have to say they are very comfortable out of the box. Really liking the solar blue color. I was nervous they were going to be too big at first because they seemed so long in hand but wearing them that's not the case. It's a nice feeling compared to the hyper venom phinish. More traditional. No heel slippage either like I notice on the synthetic version. Has anyone else had any experiences with the leather x15 yet?
My best bought the yellow when they came out and loved so much he bought the blue ones as soon as they came out. Says it's one of his favourite boots of all time.
Oh good. I haven't had a chance to play in them yet, but they have a great feel just from trying them on. Was trying to hold out and see if the new Speciali Eternal was going to make it stateside but I don't think that's happening. But I'm excited to try out the x15. Be a nice change of pace from the phinish. Plus, I Got it for a steal at soccer.com
Has anyone used any of the 'system' socks adidas has released? How thin are the 'light' socks? How about the 'calf' only socks? Are tehy long? I saw there's only 1 size...
Yes, I'd say they are true to size and quite snug. Like I said, holding them in hand they look very long and even compared to the phinish they are a tiny bit longer but on feet they are a true fit. I have an 8.5 in the hyper venom phinish and I got an 8.5 in the x15. I'm excited to test them out this weekend
Adidas gave some over a year ago but they were the medium. Even those are fairly thin. Comfy though! I normally wear medium in adidas and they fit me well. My buddy who has a bigger foot than me used them and they fit him fine too.......depending on they do they will expand the line
These look like they serve an orthopedic function...I half expect a cane or walker to be sold with them. I think these are horrible and once again adidas being reactive to Nike, specifically the Premier being short tongued and cleaner than the Gloro in overall design. Being on your second model of your affordable classic boot in under a year while being a year late to that party is pretty bad, the ship is going down over there.
Exactly....next up a model with Velcro straps. The ironic thing is that NB has way nicer looking boots.
Yeah, I liked the Copa influence on the first Gloro. The new one looks like it could be some older Joma boot or something aside from the three stripes. Adidas really seems to be struggling for an identity these days. Too bad they couldn't just go back to having all the top pros in Copas.
Why not just take the Copa....and update it some with a ligher sole plate and call it a day? Have a classic tongue or no tongue version that is basically the modified original tongue but trimmed/stitch down like the Morelia? Is it THAT hard to do? I am sure pros would be DYING to wear a boot like that. Or does Adidas not want to TOUCH the copa at all?
I think they want it to die, honestly....they just don't have the balls to actually kill it. Not that I am advocating killing it, but I have heard people that work there say "it just won't die, even though we want that".
I don't understand this from Adidas' point of view. Surely that should be an indicator of the long standing market and they should cater to said market? Instead of pandering to and trying to gain the attention of the new and younger players with pink boots like the companies are doing, section off a tried and true method (in which adidas have in the Copa) and capitalize on it? It's a guaranteed seller, as they've admitted!
Because they are not Mizuno. Credit to Mizuno for consistently updating the Morelia without taking the boot away from what it stands for and what kind of boot it is supposed to be. It has always had its own identity and stuck to it throughout the years. Plus they are not afraid to make several models of it (i.e. the UL, the EL, the TM models, etc.)
I would argue the Copa in itself has its own identity, also. Would Adidas shoot itself in the foot if it did this, essentially waving a white flag over their 'teeny bopper' boots by slightly going back to a more 'traditional' look? I still don't understand why they never tried this... Why??? Why would they want their legendary boot to die off? Maybe it's me, but I remember the nostalgia still of the goal at owning copas in the early/mid 90s. It was the top boot at the time, and I still remember day dreaming about having them on my foot once I got enough money lol. Edit: Is it these new 'hipster' designers that could care less about tradition, instead looking to make their own stamp in adidas?
Messi probably testing X16.1: http://www.tepy.pl/en/articles/3206-messi-training-in-adidas-x-16-1-blackout-end-of-messi-line.html
I agree that the Copa has its own identity. But it can change without losing its identity like the Morelia does. Also I don't think they want to kill the Copa. They sell far too many. That rumour has been floating around for over 10 years now. It is time for the Copa to be updated though. Most designers want to make their stamp on the game. Its what they do.
My guess is that it costs them a lot more to make the Copa than it does to make the other crap they shovel. They are beholden to the the shareholders at this point. I heard it directly from an inside source that while they won't actively kill the boot, while it is selling aka refusing to die, there is the hope that it will "die" or loose enough steam that they can kill it with "justification". By not updating the boot, raising the price, and so on they are just killing it in a passive aggressive manner. Mind you, this conversation was several years ago, but I don't think the mindset has changed regarding the boot, even if they have done some color ups. Personally I don't think it "needs" an update, it still performs very well. It is just that marketing other features or action verbs in cheaper to make boots has made those things salient while things that really matter like craftsmanship, comfort, flexibility, supple uppers, durability and so on have been shoved out of the way for instantly replaceable consumerism in the form constant color updates and planned obsolescence.
I agree/disagree there. It's a great boot, but it could be better. It's still made like it was 30+years ago, and new invoations with lighter matieral/better design to help wtih the over stretch issues people get would a nice addition to a close to perfect boot 30 years ago is. I hate to sound like I am sucking Mizuno's dong over here, but they get it right with keeping the upper almost the same, stitching/design make sure it doesn't over stretch like the Copas, yet combine that with ultralight plastic to reduce in weigh compared to older technology that is used in boots ilke the copa or the Panto' its Italian brother. It would be nice to see a 'copa 2015' or something like that where it's redesigned to be more modern/classic. Buuut as Derby pointed out, that may be biting the Morelia too much....so...I can see that angle as why to NOT do that. Edit: But in the end, you're probably right. The ROI won't be as high because it would be a pretty expensive boot to make compared to the plastic stuff they release now.
