nope. The four teams to advance out of their groups should be: Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica & Guyana. I hope that the CFU will hold the women's Caribbean championship every other year to help boost the competition.
TODAY Group A Haiti 14 - Grenada 0 Puerto Rico 9 - Aruba 0 Group C Jamaica 6 - Dominican Rep. 0 Group D Cuba 1 - Guyana 1
Aug. 25 Group A Grenada 2 - Aruba 0 Puerto Rico 3 - Haiti 2 Group C Jamaica 12 - Dominica 0 Group D Cuba 6 - St. Kitts & Nevis 0 Puerto Rico, Jamaica & Guyana advance to Final round.
Puerto Rico 3-2 Haiti St Kitts/Nevis 0-6 Cuba Dominica 0-13 Jamaica Grenada 2-0 Aruba Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Guyana win their groups and advance
So there's no agreement about the number of goals Jamaica put through hopeless Dominica's goal? I have to assume Puerto Rico advancing over Haiti is a mild-surprise? No match has been played yet in Trinidad & Tobago's group? They shouldn't fail to qualify anyway, should they?
CFU reported 13-0 to Jamaica , so I guess that is the final result. Yes, Puerto Rico winning the group was a surprise. They will start playing in T&T group on Friday. Host will be St Lucia.
yes, it's 13-0. Group B starts play on Thursday. Trinidad & Tobago should easily win their group. 3 out of the final 4 advance to the CONCACAF Finals. I'd guess and say either Guyana or Puerto Rico will be the team not advancing.
I have to assume that advancing or not is based on the number of points and/or goal difference of the winners of the 4 groups? Were the groups enough balanced that this method can be considered quite fair (instead of direct matches to eliminate one of the team, for instance)?
I'd say the groups were fairly balanced. Each group was originally scheduled to have 4 teams(Surinam in Group C & US Virgin Islands in Group D). I doubt either one of those teams posed any chance of winning their group. Puerto Rico only beat Haiti 3-2, so a small surprise in that group, but otherwise everything was even.
This country’s Women’s Soca Warriors will have at least an extra week of preparations for their Caribbean Football Union Women’s Olympic Qualifiers in Castries, St Lucia after the T&T Football Association was informed by CFU of a postponement due to the passage of a Tropical Storm Erika through the Lesser Antilles. The T&T women, who came within a win of appearing at a first ever Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada earlier this year, but fell at the last hurdle, 1-0 on aggregate to Ecuador in a continental playoff, were due to depart for St Lucia earlier this week for their four-team qualifying tournament which also involves Antigua & Barbuda and Cayman Islands in Group Two. However, following Tropical Storm Erika’s passing over the last few days, CFU officials are now awaiting word from the St Lucia Football Association as to when and if it can host the qualifiers, before making their decision. http://www.socawarriors.net/womens-team/15859-erick-gives-women-warriors-extra-week-to-prepare.html
I feel for the poor other three group-winner teams, waiting on their heels to know if they actually qualified or not...
??? Only the group winners advance to the next round. The four group winners go into a play-off to determine the top 3 CFU teams advancing to the CONCACAF Finals.
not sure why, but Group B's been postponed again. Though I haven't found a source explaining why. Maybe next week?? The CFU Finals are scheduled to be played Oct. 2 & 4.
no clue. there's no info on CONCACAF's OR CFU's websites. And the Caribbean Finals are supposed to be played next weekend.
@toad455 @GrahamK Note that Honduras withdrew from the tournament and that the top 2 teams qualify. All games will be played in Managua.
still haven't found anything in regards to Group B from the Caribbean section being rescheduled. The Caribbean finals are supposed to occur this weekend.
