Here is to hoping for that miracle run. I wouldn't mind another star.

(not that I am in any way expecting anything, just saying that a miracle run would be really fun)

I want a coach who will say these things, but we know there is no way on earth TH would:

Manager Peter Vermes provided plenty in his postmatch news conference, none of it complimentary to his squad
“I thought our backline was absolutely horrific,” Vermes said. “It's the reason why we gave up the goals that we did. We were nonchalant.
"We didn't play together as a group. We weren't good in our individual defending, and we were very, very poor with the ball and our entry balls out of the back – which in turn allowed them to pick us off and at the end, they did a great job of countering us.”

He needs to be gone. I hope we do not have to endure another season of this misery and ugliness.

I'd like to see an off-season happen with new players brought in, a coach that knows their stuff and a few HGP brought up to compete.

Problem is we only have possibly one HGP, Rapids have been losing out for a while to other Youth Programs.

    Quentin right?
You mean youth clubs or other MLS clubs youth?
With the landscape of HgP no reason to not have Denver, COSprings, ABq, FOCO, and Boulder area kiddos on their radar. Could even include Charlottte, Vegas and SD possibly too.

In addition to the fact that he is effectively the worst coach with that 0.98 number in our history, it is that he has done it with a pretty high quality roster in my opinion. It isn't as if the cupboard was/is bare. When he took over, Irwin, Klute, Powers, Brown, O'Neill were one of the best young groups in the league. Wynne was more than serviceable on the back line. Our first DP was on the roster at first and now we have 2 more. Guys like Jose Marie have come and gone. PM has demonstrated that he can't get guys with proven talent into positions to contribute. In fact, he seems to insist on playing them in terrible positions. If PM stays, they really need to wipe the roster clean and start over with who he wants.

You can look but I have yet to see any players from there on any national rankings. The HGP cupboard is bare for Rapids.

Every time I see this list, I feel bad for Roy. He's forever jailed at the bottom based on the one match he coached. I always thought that loss should be pinned on Houghton.

I just find that so hard to believe. There are 5 national markets to find these new HGP and Crookman/staff can't. I mean, Las Vegas, ABQ, South Dakota (not major by any means) and North Carolina. I'm sure there are players out there, maybe the Rapids just selected the wrong partner clubs.

I wouldn't go that far. The national rankings are a bunch of crap in all honesty. Their own coaches are the ones who nominate players to the various websites; coaches nominate their favorite players (not necessarily the best or those with long-term potential) and those they hope to keep with their clubs. If those kids aren't on the list when they start at U14, it is difficult to get on the lists afterward. I think a better gauge of talent would be Youth Nats callups and overall academy play. Rapids has had guys at quite a few YNT camps this year. We'll see how they do in Academy play this season- the U18s have their first scrimmage of the season tonight against a local college team.

IIRC, Roy was only an interim and was never actually named as coach and sure didn't want the job. The fact that he continued as a Rapids player into mid-1997 is what makes me think he should be spared the dungeon.

Please post these call-up articles, I don't think I have missed one of them and only a single Rapids youth (Quentin Pearson) has been called up since Serna and O'Neil.

Not sure where you go for Youth rankings but TopDrawer is a good source and it's rankings come from like 2 or 3 guys who attend all tourney's (boys and Girls). http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/

Edit: I will not get into the whole USA player development issues but when we can push quality coaching down the ranks (I am talking U-10ish) and end the "Win now" attitude we will see better players come out of the various academies.

I was looking for someone more of the "signing Pro age" but I concede your point.

Heard a rumor at the game last night that the Rapids have started looking at other coaching options.

So from the U16, there is 1 rapids player and 2 from our academy markets.
    U14, 2 rapids and 1 academy market.

A total of 3 players from what we could include in HGP market. Sad days ahead for the youth movement within the Rapids.
It looks as if MLS still runs CUSA Academy too, is that going to be taken over by LAFC?

Maybe they meant they could see other coaches from their box?
