Fair enough, just saw a bunch of places you were putting up links at and was wondering if it was just full on "I'm behind this all the way"! It would be an odd relationship, obviously some local presense in the ownership group would be key. At this point, with NASL losing Minnesota in a couple years, Fury (and possibly Edmonton) to the new Canadian League, Atlanta and Carolina without ownership groups ... the NASL could use some good news. I'm not sold on the Miami or Puerto Rico startups either, but I hope for the best in both locations. Peterson needs to stop barking about pro/rel and try to fill his league! 18 teams (a states Peterson goal) seems a lot further away than he talks about, especially if you expect a few diffections in the next few years.
I recall Alaves from Spain once having a team in USL. I think it was called California Victory and did not last long. I really doubt this NASL/Vallecano venture will have much success vs. the Energy. But these foreign investors keep on sinking money in to NASL, when they could put the money in MLS. Peterson must be a good salesman.
Let's be fair ... putting money into NASL and MLS isn't really apples to apples ... there is a large difference in the amount of money needed for one vs the other ... and do the ones investing in NASL have the bank account required by MLS? I don't honestly know. It's much easier for Peterson to "Sell" the NASL to someone that wasn't invited to the table at MLS ... or doesn't have the bank account to get to the table. This is comparible to Man City investing in NYCFC ... the difference between Man City and Vallecano kind of parallel's the difference between MLS and NASL. I think you're a bit off base in what can be read into this. Maybe my sarcasm detector isn't on today?!
Great. Two teams. Wonderful. Let's have this war. Confuse the causal fan, spill some bad blood, divide the soccer market, give the media a good chuckle when they both fail, and then point fingers and bitch for the next two decades before we get two more groups that want to try it again, and we start all over. On the other hand, an OKCFC team will probably go bankrupt AFTER Vallecano does...
Less than 2 years ago Rayo Vallecano had some big financial problems http://www.365tip.com/sport/Rayo Vallecano/Financial problems/2013-09-14 04:17:17 And now they have enough money to buy a NASL franchise ?
I was not being sarcastic just pointing out a similar venture that failed in the past by a La Liga team in USL not MLS.
Is it really a war when OKCFC hasn't rolled a ball yet I'm sorry your Owner has the attention span of a parakeet Enjoy your approved song list...
Which is exactly why the next owner should wait and buy him out if/when he does bail instead of risk wrecking everything.
It's only 3 million or so to buy an NASL franchise, but yeah sounds like this dude does have financial question marks.
And if OKC FC paid around half that for their NASL franchise in 2013, only to sell majority interest to an unsuspecting Spaniard for upwards of $3mil, well... cha-ching!.... obviously, this "business model" is far more lucrative than the harder work it would have taken to actually build their PDL/NPSL club from the ground up... I mean, who in that camp really cares if OKC FC succeeds in the NASL or not, as long as Sold Out Strategies can pocket a cool million while simultaneously hurting OKC soccer in general and Energy FC in particular. And Brad Lund is no Adrian Hanauer. Remains to be seen what Tim McLaughlin is... NASL Sue USL Oklahoma City Energy Owner Tim McLaughlin By Anthony J. Merced on June 10, 2015 http://www.empireofsoccer.com/oklahoma-energy-mclaughlin-35956/ As The Brad would say.... "stay tuned."
What would SOS' motivation be to "help" the Energy & McLaughlin. Serious question. McLaughlin did them no favors. Why should they return any? I disagree - they're both small market Ethics isn't his strong suit
OKC FC's comeback may be short lived according to this article https://translate.google.com/transl...al/estados_unidos/1440579398.html&prev=search
Not according to this article: http://www.marca.com/en/2015/08/27/en/football/international_football/1440663574.html I hope it all works out, but I'll believe it when I see it
You should know by reading my last, few posts that I am DONE with not seeing results. If THIS one turns out to be nothing, then I will buy nrg season tickets.
Completely understand ... however you have a funny way of being done (posting about rumblings and such). Either way, my sarcasm really wasn't directed to be negative towards you ... just the situation.
Is this like an auto post that happens every three months. Only to have nothing come from it. Not a dig at you either ManuSooner just it happens like clockwork.
