Amazing news if true. Maybe this is why we refused to give Betis Asensio? They didn't play ball so we are sticking it to them?
I think so too, great move by Uncle Flo. COPE where the first to report that we would sign Jesus Vallejo from Real Zaragoza so it's looking good.
If only we had sent Vallejo to them as well, then we could watch all our future Spanish stars develop in one team.
LVG can say whatever he wants but he can't/won't stop us from getting De Gea, especially if we give them an offer they can't refuse.
Boring transfer period. If it takes pictures of a girl friend and Pepe's family to liven things up...
In: Mateo Kovacic €32m Danilo €31.5m Casemiro End of loan/BB (€7.5m buy back) Kiko Casilla €6m Jesus Vallejo €5m Marco Asensio €3.5m Lucas Vazquez €1m Dario Ramos €1m Denis Cheryshev End of loan Total Spent: €87.5m Out: Casillas Free (€14m payout) Sami Khedira Free Chicharito End of loan Jesus Vallejo Loaned to Real Zaragoza Marco Asensio Loaned to Espanyol Dario Ramos moved to Castilla 9 players in; 6 players out. Total Spent: €101.5m Edit: Forgot to add two players so we actually have passed the €100m mark.
Isn't Vallejo very well placed at Zaragoza right now though? Captain of the team I remember reading when we were signing him, which is very very impressive at his age.
Why exactly would we make them an offer they can't refuse when we can wait 6 months and sign De Gea for free? Folks need to start thinking of this from the Big Picture perspective and not one where we stick it to Van Gaal and United. We'll be fine with Casilla and Navas by committee for a season if need be and I don't see how making an offer United can't refuse for a player in the last year of his contract makes any sense. It's an Oil Club move and we're better than that...at least I hope.
If guys think Florentino is patient enough to wait another season for De Gea then fine but I doubt it. My guess is we end up signing him for around 32me plus variables.
De Gea and his agent probably know that waiting another 6 months is a lot more lucrative for them. The player gets a signing bonus, his agent gets a clean cut, and Manchester United get nothing. If we sign De Gea, we'll do it out of charity to get him out of the hands of Van Gaal, who in my opinion is at this moment dangerous when it comes to the player's career and overall progress. We might as well bring him over in one of the plains they ship the CARE packages with.
Personally, I prefer if we bring him over sooner rather than later, even if it is up to €30m. LvG going to destroy the kid at this rate and I don't want us to sign damaged goods next year.
At this point, I agree. Would never pay their 40M asking price, but we need to consider the personal/performance consequences of waiting, and not just the financial incentive. The guy must feel so isolated right now, in a city he hates, not even allowed to play football. People are saying "Oh Im sure he'd prefer the 12M payout." If this decision was about the money, he'd have renewed with United. If waiting is our plan, we couldn't be getting off to a worse start to our relationship with De Gea IMO.
I think the majority of us would want to sign him sooner rather than later, I know I would like to use my DDG pom poms this season. There is a fine line between flexing financial muscle and complete madness and I think paying €30m for a player in the final year of his contract is close to the later no matter how we try to spin it. As for damaged goods, I'm less inclined to worry about them when I pick them up for free.
Is 100/Summer roughly what Floro has been spending the last few seasons? Or am I off the mark? A lot of those players are for the future so it looks like good business.
Damaged goods for free are fine if we are a club that "bin dips" or...Barcelona. But we are Real Madrid and certain things just go with the territory. That's not discounting the impact it will have on De Gea's desire to end up playing here. I don't see the savings going into any other purchase this year: we've already bought our Modric v2, we're not going to get another striker and we've been doing a cracking job balancing the books over the last few years. Just to be clear, I'm not advocating that we just throw 30m Euro at United and be done with it, but we did pay a similar fee for Kroos in the last year of his contract.
If we didn't reach an agreement for De Gea and Van Gaal is only benching him in these weeks of transfers window (like some reasonable managers) then it will work fine for us. The problem is Van Gaal is probably too stubborn to do that, and it's not unlikely for DDG to spend the season on the stands so LVG can prove a point. In this case I'm not sure that in 2016 we will get the GK in the physical, mental, and technical form that made us go for someone who is considered among the top GKs in the world NOW. I just hope we don't live this scenario to see its outcome.
