I'll try to submit every week my team and player of the week as I'm able now to see most Eredivisie matches. I'm choosing only my team's first round now since, due to lack of time, wasn't able to watch second round games but two:

    1) Hanssen (Ado)
    2) Tete (Ajax)
    3) Veltman (Ajax)
    4) St Juste (Heerenveen)
    5) Cavan (Heerenveen)
    6) Van den Boomen (Heerenveen)
    7) El Ghazi (Ajax)
    8)Tibbling (Groningen)
    9) Kazim (Feyenoord)
    10) Bel Hassani (Heracles)
    11) Gyasi (Roda)

Player of the week: Branco Van den Boomen (Heerenveen)

Frysk Bloed, DRB300 and Radu Razvan repped this.

    3) Feyenoord

I've guessed the winner right for the past 5 seasons. Hope I'm wrong this time. Any team would be better than PSV, even Feyenoord.

Why isn't Feyenoord in the list btw? Surely they have a better chance than Twente or AZ.

I went with the recent champs and even the not so recent champs. If Feyenoord wins this season, then I jinxed it with this metric and Feyenoord fans can thank me. :)

    My pleasure.

To be fair you have to add all the teams into this poll or at least the top 5 from previous season.

    No I don't :)

You would have done it differently. Great. Respond when somebody asks others to make a thread and you can apply this. I went with the recent champs and made this one under 1 minute. Don't make a big deal out of it. It is not that I did some great injustice. All the recent champs are in it.

You are not causing trouble again, are you? New thread, new season, all recent champs are in the poll and you can also vote for "other". All made under 1 minute. I mean last time Feyenoord won the Eredivisie we still payed with Guilders instead of Euros. How is that recent? If I stepped on any sensibilities just make sure your team becomes a champ once again and they will probably appear in such a poll in the future.

I actually like Gio. In the club of 100 caps for country IIRC. Wish him well this season.

If people are done complaining/whining, we can move on posting again about Eredivisie:

I think ADO will be a tough team to beat at home and could be one of the surprises of this campaign.

This week has the first really good match up, in my opinion. Heerenveen vs. PSV will say a lot about the Fries and their aspirations this season. They don't need to win (although that would be exceptional) but a strong performance would be nice.

My guess for this season end result will be:

    1: Ajax
    2: PSV
    3: Feyenoord
    4: Vitesse
    5: PEC Zwolle
    6: AZ
    7/8/9: Heerenveen, Groningen, Utrecht

Reading that Wolfsburg may make a big bid on Ziyech if Kevin de Bruyne is sold to City. Smart business since they won't sell KdB for less than 80m and they can get Ziyech much cheaper...meanwhile Ziyech is very good himself, and could be just as good if not better than KdB in the near future.

I think the Bundesliga is a pretty good place for Dutch talents to go. It sucks, but the Eredivisie is no longer good enough to challenge players until they're ~23. The Bundesliga is a much better step for a lot of players than going to a midtable EPL side that has no idea how to use them properly. Bundesliga sides generally use players properly at least.

  17. I donot think JC14 has any sensibilities about Feyenoord, he just was curious about your choices.

Twente lose their second in a row, after falling to PEC Zwolle on the road today. Once again the defensive line costing them as Uvini concedes them a penalty. Gotta feel for Ziyech, he continues to carry the team but there's only so much one can do if others around him are struggling to contribute.

Can't say I feel for Ziyech. I could understand if he had left for say PSV or Ajax, but he chose to leave Heerenveen for Twente which simply were not a better team without him. Heerenveen could have been challenging for top 3 even last season with Ziyech in the squad with the form he showed. He put himself in his current position for no real reason.

I think he got inspired by the Tadic transfer.

He is on the good way, another good season and he'll probably leave for Spain, England or Germany like Tadic did.

I don't know what all the argy bargy is about. Feyenoord haven't won the league since 1999-2000 so they shouldn't be the pick for this season. I started following them in 1996 so I have seen only one league title in my fan span.

It will probably be a 3-horse race again. I suspect Ajax will pull off the title once again. They are the usual suspect.

Fair point, I'm sure Ziyech regrets his decision now. At this rate, it's going to be a tough campaign for Twente. Management have just sold another player in Mohktar. I don't necessarily see them in danger of relegation yet but will very likely be stuck in the lower half of the table all season.

  23. Ziyech chose Twente over Feyenoord, because he wanted to be sure he would play and no guarantees are given at clubs like Feyenoord or Ajax. So he is having what he wanted, and I doubt he regrets it.

I meant that more in terms of direction the club is heading towards. He joined Twente at a time when thinking they were still in a top 7 spot and contender for Europa. But instead have become a sinking ship where financial difficulties have created a negative effective on the pitch as well.

  25. I personally think, supposing the players now present staying, that Twente will be competing for Euroleague places. They had a few interesting replacements for those who left. And they had a bit of bad luck in the matches so far.
