Pretty even display from both sides. Heerenveen made some resilient efforts to battle back from two deficits.
That was an unfortunate mistake made by Jerry St. Juste which got Vitesse out to an early lead at the beginning. Playing in consecutive EL playoff matches is a big test for an 18 year old defender, but these scenarios will benefit him in the long run. He's got a bright future ahead, and an important player for Fean's young core. Going into the final game 2-2, hope to see Lodeweges and the boys come out with an aggressive attacking initiative to get the first goal and control the flow of play.

I'm always amazed to see how overrated Wijnaldum is on youtube comments and football threads.

People send him to Barca, to Man U, to City, what a joke... He is a average midfielder, his penetration and dribbles aren't that good, his passing is just poor and limited (Has he ever had a long pass ?), poor vision, poor long shot...

I'd say that his three strong points are his mental, his heading (which is good for someone of his height), and his finishing (not exceptionnal but ok for an AM). The rest really doesn't impress me.

The world (particularly England) still overrates Dutch talents, I mean look at the Depay hype. It'll probably take another 10-15 years for them to realise that the Dutch school is kind of dead.

Supporting Heerenveen all the way, but must admit that I enjoy watching Davy Propper play. Classy dribbling control and then shooting technique on the build up to his goal in game 1. He has all the elements needed to thrive in PSV's system. He's a quality midfielder that continues to steadily raise the profile of his game.

None of them has been produced by Heerenveen. Pranjic came from Dinamo Zagreb where he already had a reputation, Alves from Malmo where he also had a reputation ( he is no big pride for Heerenveen anyway) and Huntelaar is a PSV product.

I've been looking for players who have been produced by Heerenveen last years and the only good ones I found were Sinkgraven and Ziyech. Heerenveen isn't really a good formating club but they have a good network for molding young dutch and scandinavian talents.

Now the worrying fact is that many of the players they sold recently flopped . Fingobasson, Djuricic, Assaidi...Narsingh is nothing close to the "king of assists" he was .

I guess S.Larsson, Uth and Otigba are material transfer for this summer, let's see what they'll do.

Heerenveen's strengths have traditionally been efficient scouting and providing a tactical platform for player's breakthrough. Management does a fine job recruiting young talents and guiding them during the early stages of their career. Although Huntelaar began with as a youth at PSV, he never officially had the chance to make the leap there. His years at Heerenveen have by far had a greater influence on shaping his development on the professional level. Similar situation with Bas Dost in his early years. Despite being a smaller club, Heerenveen ranks among top of the league in financial resourcefulness and stability. And often generate around 10-20 mio in transfer revenues each year.

In terms of academy production, there are several well rated prospects who have emerged in recent years. Most notably, Ziyech and Sinkgraven as mentioned. I think Basacikoglu left a bit too early, but he's still very young and will adapt at Feyenoord with more time. St. Juste is the latest homegrown talent to make his mark this season. While others like van Amersfoort, Kada, Amin, Bikel, and Vlap will be gradually integrated.

Regarding plans for next season, I've touched upon some topics on the previous page. Uth to Hoffenheim and Nordfeldt to Swansea are two moves that are in advanced stages of negotiations. These two transfers will potentially bring in around 10 mio together. Larsson is highly sought after but only offers of at least 7 mio will be considered. Otigba is a decent rotational player but the team will be alright without him. Van Aken and St. Juste will be the central defensive core for next season. Overall, there's quite a positive outlook this summer. Several quality replacement options have been lined up to enhance the squad.

High intensity from the start. Uth gets Heerenveen takes advantage of a 1-vs-1 breakaway to an early lead. But Vitesse equalizes few minutes later from a corner set piece. Should be a triller, both teams will be aiming for the decisive victory.

    Edit: Uth makes it 2-1!!

Great chances around the 38th min mark for Heerenveen to go up by another. On one end, Bertrand Traore denied a penalty decision. Vitesse players make a frustration foul after the clearance and completely lose their focus. Causing momentum to swing the other way, with Heerenveen's front 3 leading a swift counter attack. Uth finds a great opening for Larsson to emerge through the flank but Samba Sam couldn't get enough on the finish. That play really should have been for the third goal. Slagveer had another opportunity shortly after but shot wasn't on target.

Really soft PK call by Nijhuis. Traore went to ground so easily but the Heerenveen defender was also at fault for having his hand across the striker's chest. Too bad for Heerenveen.

Soft third goal to concede as well. Nordfeldt really fell asleep on that one. Replay shows there was a slight deflection off Otigba but still should of had plenty of time and space to stop it.

    ...

Despite the loss, I'm proud of the team. Had many good moments throughout the season and fought hard in this playoffs. Unfortunately just ran out of energy towards the end. Defence especially looked exhausted. Vitesse were the better team over the course of two games, so the result is what it is. Tough lesson to go through but hopefully the young guys can learn this and rebuild for next season even stronger.

Tibbling and Rusnak should stay there for at least another season. With Groningen in the Europa league, they'll need to keep as many quality players as possible. Chery is their most likely player to leave, so Tibbling will have to step up and provide more overall coverage in the midfield. Hope Juninho Bacuna continues to work towards his breakthrough.

Find it strange that Chery is the most likely to leave out of him, Rusniak and Tibbling.

Chery has been linked with several clubs since the season ended. In a recent interview, he said that his goal is to play in the EPL or Bundesliga. According to another article, Groningen's coach said they plan on making several new signings this summer. First to find equivalent replacements for those departing and also a quality left-back which they found to be their weakness.

    http://www.soccernews.nl/news/320552/FC_Twente_wil_samenwerking_met_Doyen_Sports_zo_snel_mogelijk_beëindigen_

Positive step in the right direction for Twente. Management want to regain full control of the ownership of their players and end cooperation with the Doyen Group as soon as possible. The transfer of Luc Castaignos to Eintracht Frankfurt appeared to be the final straw. It was reported that from the 3-4 mio in transfer revenues, half of that amount went directly to Doyen. They've also been falling behind in recent years with the promise to add quality players.

Twente are looking at working with a team budget of 33 mio next season. Although it's down from their latest budget of 44 mio, it is a better situation than initially expected according to financial director Gerald van den Belt. It should also keep them relatively competitive and with room to grow for the future. Currently, Twente is working on finalizing a deal with a new shirt sponsor for next season.

  21. I stumbled on something interesting:

    "
THE NETHERLANDS (Jan. 26, 2015) – Japanese nationals exempt from work permits, court says
    IMPACT – HIGH

What is the change? Japanese nationals do not need to secure work authorization to work in the Netherlands, the highest Dutch immigration court has ruled.

What does the change mean? Japanese nationals have free access to the labor market, and Dutch employers may hire them without having to go through procedures to obtain work permits.

    • Implementation timeframe: TheAdministrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State issued its ruling Dec. 24, 2014.

    • Visas/permits affected: All work permit categories for both high-skilled and low-skilled labor.

    • Who is affected: Japanese nationals and Dutch employers hiring them.

    • Impact on processing times: The ruling essentially eliminates work permit processing for Japanese nationals.

    • Business impact: The ruling has a significant liberalizing impact on employers hiring or assigning Japanese nationals in the Netherlands.

    • Next steps: The Dutch Ministry of Social Affairsand Employment, which brought the appeal, is bound by the ruling. Companies can immediately engage Japanese nationals to perform work without work permits and not risk penalties for illegal employment.
Background: The court based its ruling on the 1913 Treaty of Commerce and Navigation between the Netherlands and Japan. The treaty gives Japanese nationals the same status as foreign nationals of the “most-favored nation.” The court compared this treaty to a similar treaty between Switzerland and the Netherlands, which allows Swiss nationals to work in the Netherlands without work permits. The court found that the “most-favored nation” clause puts Japanese nationals on the same footing as Swiss nationals, who have been exempt from work permits in the Netherlands since November 2001.

BAL Analysis: While official regulations must be adopted to implement the ruling, the court’s rulingpaves the way for employers to bypass work permit procedures in hiring and transferring Japanese nationals.

This alert has been provided by the BAL Global Practice group and our network provider located in the Netherlands. For additional information, please contact your BAL attorney."

This means that we can now hire promising youngsters from Japan for lower payment. ( I now answered my own question about IJsselmeervogels.
