Here is Facebook group for US suppoters to Triniad away. https://www.facebook.com/groups/133812253623398/
Nothing dramatic just disappointed. For the first time in my nats away travel career, I opted to invite the wife and sell it as a mini vacation.(Horrible idea). Hotel booked (on points) but could only fly in late Monday night and back early Wednesday morning. Which for me is just fine. But for Mrs Diva, it turned into a waste of a vacation. She wanted a minimum of 3 full days. Next thing I know is we are fighting over who should take out the trash... Like I said, I don't want to talk about it.
Got airfare yesterday! Now the waiting game for a month... At least I get the Rose Bowl game on Saturday! Anybody been there before? Any clue for a meet up spot the night before or pre-game?
A few streets away from the stadium has a big string of bars/restarsunts. Ariapita Ave. http://www.discovertnt.com/articles/Trinidad/Ariapita-Avenue#axzz3o5Asr1H4
Tickets for the USA section are on sale now. I got an email from US soccer an hour ago indicating this is the "member presale".

Game ticket purchased. Flights booked. Guesthouse room reserved. Traveling alone to Port of Spain this time. My wife and I had a great time there in 2008. Charlie Davies first (?) NT goal. T&T victory sending them toward the final round; the US had already qualified for it. Sitting among the local fans and receiving hugs when their team scored and then won. This time the situation is different. Message me for travel tips. I'm the cheap ass version.
Here's the meetup info: Night Before November 16, 2015 Coco Lounge Ariapita Ave Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago 8 pm Pre-Game November 17, 2015 Side of Courtyard Marriott Audrey Jeffers Hwy Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago 2-6pm Atlantic Time
So if anyone still needs a ticket or place to stay we had one of our group drop out. Ticket is $45 or whatever the us soccer value was.
I've got one extra ticket for the match. PM me if you need one. I'll be in Chicago until Saturday and then in Trinidad from Sunday night.
Living vicariously...... "If you're in T&T... our #AONB4 party has moved to AO "Shakers Cocktail Bar" on Ariapita Ave near Adam Smith Square."
Well that was fun. Trinidad rolled out the typical warm Caribbean welcome. Fans were friendly, but not overly so. Ditto the trash talk. Friendly and subdued for the most part. I did get a beer poured on me for dancing with some guys girlfriend or sister (dunno really) after the game which was comical. You can bring your own drinks in and buy buckets of beer for like $1.50 a can. Trinidad is definitely a low key place to visit.
