I opened a thread only because I thought it will be interesting to follow the development of this story. Honda Estilo bought 49% of the club.
The club is in 3rd division btw, so there hardly will be anything exciting for a while.

Eventually, the thread title will be changed if notable japanese players join the club, which obviously won't be the case at least until they get promoted.
There's going to be a large tryout for japanese players in the end of june!

Please note that Honda Estilo is not "Keisuke Honda" although the connection is obvious since it's his management company.

I'm also not sure who "Youji Honda" is. It's not Keisuke's brother. Anyone knows?
edit: oh wait, or could it be another brother of Keisuke?

Masaki Morass is also playing a part, as expected.

apparently Youji is Honda's... cousin :D
They're setting a 4-year goal to reach the 1st div. Not going to be easy, but we'll see. 2 mln € is the budget for the next season.

How many Japanese players can they add to SV Horn roster? What rules are there in Austria non-UEFA players?

it's an interesting question but the answer is not easy. I have tried to take a look but I don't know where to find the rules. For example, I had understood that you simply had to field around 5 austrian players in the lineup... however if you watch Salzburg, they don't even do that. So, I'm really not sure.
The number is likely quite high, though.

Just looked it up, it's a very interesting rule and easily confusing as they don't use any concept of foreigners anymore. Instead they need to have at least 5 Eigenbauspieler (home grown players) and 5 Verbandsspieler (federation players) for any given match. A player counts as Eigenbauspieler if he started in U12 (or earlier I suppose) or has been at least 3 years (or 2 years in U teams) at the same club (interruptions are allowed it seems). He counts as Verbandsspieler once he played at least for 5 years in Austria. All data is apparently tracked digitally by the ÖFB. Not following this rule automatically results in a 0-3 loss for the offending club.

    Wait, I'm slightly confused.
You said 5 Eigenbauspieler (home grown players) and 5 Verbandsspieler (federation players).
But... is this the starting lineup? That'd mean 10 players out of 11 need to fall into one of these categories and it seems really hard to believe...

Not necessarily on the field, 10 of the (usually) 16 players of the match squad.

SV Horn plays against Qarabag tomorrow in preseason, and, at the same time, there will be the first 100-men screening in Ajinomoto Stadium by Honda Estilo.
Among them, there should be Consadole's Shota Sakaki.

Those who will make it, will travel to Austria for the final selection which is currently scheduled in "early july"

    Correction:
Apparently, Shota Sasaki, likely being a more proven player than the other trialists, was already sent on trial directly to SV Horn.
Infact, he scored against Qarabagh yesterday. The match ended 4-3 for SV Horn, and it's available here
According to Horn's facebook page, he was brought to the hospital mid-match though.

There's also another japanese player there, called Rintaro Yajima ('93). A former Urawa youth, he moved out to SV Horn in january, from Meiji University. However, he appeared only in 5 matches and little minutes.

A certain somebody was in Horn to do some light training
    [IMG]

He'll join AC Milan's pre season this friday.

There was also a testmatch, which Keisuke assisted. Sakaki scored again and Nagai played the second half.

    Sakaki, not Sasaki=)

From being labelled "The Messi of Hokkaido", Sakaki´s career have really not gone anywhere ever since he debuted back in 2011. He had a decent 2012 when Consadole were in J1, and even scored 2 goals, but havent scored a single goal since. He struggled with some long-term injuries which obviously have affected his development, but with such speed, technique and agility one should think he had the potential to become a J-hero.

Maybe a move to Europe can get his career back on track? Being 163cm, he must be one of the shortest players in the game though!

more precisely re: Nagai, Honda commented that he "is lacking technically, but has potential." He passed the tryout but needs to make a decision after he returns to Japan on whether to join Horn or remain in college.

Hi, I'm a journalist interested in the project in Horn.
As some of you seem to be from Japan, could you tell me how big of a news this was in Japan? There was japanese media around in Horn, but is this really raising interest in Japan?
Also, is Honda Estilo a big player in the business? They say they've got 50 schools, how much is that when put in perspective?

    Thanks and greetings from Austria

Not much time now, but a few links in Japanese:

Long story short, what has been reported in the media in Japan are pretty much the facts of the situation, with some color around Honda's entrepreneurial philosophy and ambitions to develop an international network of football academies.

PM if you need more help.
