yep, our one and only. I just saw recently that we are 1 win and 16 losses against Brazil (senior level). Have not gotten even one stinking tie.
I'm starting to think Brasil took that game personal because they make it there goal to make sure that they do not lose to us. It's as if they are not allowed too, I mean they got mad at us for giving each other high fives at halftime in the Confederation Cup Final and used that as motivation to beat us. Another reason is we tend to give this team too much respect and Brasil takes advantage of that, we really need to change our attitude towards this team.
We got blown out, but our last game was really entertaining. I still remember dat juke (the slow motion doesn't do it justice at all) and Gooch going full Hulk mode on a corner (6:48)
That last Brazil game was a watershed for Klinsi. It was the "nasty" game. It was the game where Klinsi found out he didn't have what he thought he had in terms of personnel. He never played ordinary 433 again. He found out that the scoreline matters to US Soccer media as opposed to we "played well, it's a process, we lost but we are improving". He found out why Bradley can't play dedicated 6, and Edu can't play 8, etc.
I remember thinking after that game maybe this Klinsy guy is not all talk. Maybe we can get a nice attacking style. The game seems very open. But no, we cannot attack well or boss a game.
Over the aggregate, we've taken it on chin time and time again when against these guys because we have seldom had the backline to sustain an open game.
And judging by the way the US has been playing recently, it still doesn't have that kind of backline... Brazil is going to maul the US, based on the US's current form.
Since the WC, Brazil has been great in friendlies and so-so at best in competitive games (Copa America)
We had kind of a real identity in the making with that kit. But Nike's feeding time came around and that was that.
I would like very much if we'd establish a home kit identity primarily along those lines, though I would be satisfied even if they were to vary the shirts quite considerably within the same theme, as for example the 2008-09 white kits with the red horizontal pinstriping might loosely be thought of as roughly within the same "theme" as the 2012-13 Waldos. Obviously there's no problem in changing the 2nd and/or 3rd kits all they want every two years or more. Those kits are pretty much made to be changed, but if one day Nike and Brazil, say, switched their primary kit to green-and-yellow hoops, there'd probably be riots. I remember the first game we played in the Waldos, the 5-1 friendly against Scotland, my then-primary school aged son walked in and immediately shouted, "Oh, I know which team we are!" Now THAT is a successful identity.
Well of course, the USA does have a traditional home uniform, like it or not, it is all white, and has been for a long time/forever (with brief exceptions/variations). Having said that, I kind of like the "Allies" version:
This was a staggering display of goalkeeping skill from Keller and missed opportunities from Brazil: Enjoy watching the acres of space Brazil finds in our attacking third, yet Keller stopped them all.
