And you do obviously right? He created a needless circus at Madrid despite being washed up which is why Florentino paid him to leave. Look through your rose tinted glasses all you want, it's clear as day. I mean even for Spain he refuses to retire & hand De Gea the starting spot despite the latter being miles above him. Anyway not sure why you're so upset over hard hitting truths that are in favour of your team. You've just killed 2 birds with one stone. Cheer up.
Wait so he controls both the club and the country as well? I'll give you this: you either produce actual proof that he created "factions in the dressing room" or you won't be able to post in this thread for very much longer. I've already seen your shit in the OTT.
People always trying to start crap with Madridistas of all people. I follow the team closely like most on here and it is sad when other fans act like they know more than us.
Still the biggest name to ever wear the Porto shirt in the history of the club. I figure the least the League could do is play an Iker Casillas song right after the national anthem is played every weekend.
He'll be on his rightful place on the bench in no time. Don't worry. He'll also have to stare at this statue everyday for the next 2 years.
As if he'd do a lowly Segunda B club the favour of actually playing for them. Mourinho will have to stare at what Casillas has achieved his entire life and still come short, so it's a fair deal i think.
I'd take being a "lowly Segunda B club" over being Barca & Messi's bitch for the best part of a decade. Another trophyless season is on the horizon but I'm sure Rafa will be your scapegoat like the other 200 coaches over the last 20 years. Mourinho is worshiped in 3 seperate countries while Casillas was tossed out of his boyhood club like a used rubber because of how atrocious he is. While a keeper like Cech was courting a record fee for a GK you were literally paying him to finally leave. No hiding place or media friends at Porto, he'll be booed out of the country after his weekly calamities.
Oh boy, what a guy. @Zidane05, he still hasn't provided any proof. So I hope what you said still applies, because this is incredibly obvious trolling.
Then again, Porto got caught match fixing. Not sure how proud you are of that flag you're waving there. So was the angry austrian guy with the silly moustache many years ago and look how that went.
You speak the truth that many on here refuse to see or admit. Iker Casillas has not been good enough for Real Madrid and country for a long time and is only starting for both due to past achievements; over much better keepers in Navas and De Gea. He was incredible in his prime but he is just average now. It happens. It's called aging. He overstayed by 2 - 3 years and forced his way into this starting position to the detriment of the club and Real Madrid suffered for as consequence. Truthfully speaking he is probably not even in the top 8 goalkeepers in the world. People like to point at how Xavi let Barca and criticize Real Madrid for not treating Casillas better. What these people do not realize is that Xavi accepted his decline and stayed at the club in a supporting role. He did not kick up a fuss and destabilize the club or attempted to use past exploits in order to force his way into the team over better players. Xavi rarely started for Barca, and he understood that his name alone would not earn him minutes on the field. He came in occasionally as a substitute and contributed accordingly. Casillas was different than Xavi. He wanted to be the #1 keeper. He wanted to start every match and moaned when that did not happen and created a media circus. Ancelotti was not strong as Mourinho and caved in in order to avoid the dram and allowed Casillas to play in the CL, which was unheard off prior to that. In that same year Casillas (while Diego Lopez was starting over him) said "I've been here since I was little, but there will come a day I will have to make a decision...If in three months things don't change, I'll be thinking about leaving." We sold Diego the following summer, and Ancelotti being weak as he is chose Casillas over the best keeper at the world cup and La Liga.
So wait... Iker has the ability to force himself into the starting lineup. That's really believable to you. But Perez interfering with the team, that is where you draw the line. The hypocrisy is actually entertaining.
@Zidane05, I can imagine you amongst one of those 200 at the Bernabeu the other day chanting for Casillas to stay, and for Florentino to leave; dooming us to mediocrity in goalkeeping for many years to come. At some point you have to take off the rose-tinted glasses. Casillas is plain average and should have left many years ago. He did not and as a result stained his image and legacy. As for being perplexed by concept that players can use their influence and put pressure on the club and manager? It happens. There is a reason why Casillas was starting over much better keepers.
I'm not questioning whether the players can use their power to influence their way into their starting line up; I've seen it before. I'm questioning how you can believe that and not believe that the President can do the exact, same thing.
I don't believe it because Mourinho said that Florentino at no point ever instructed him on who or how to play. Ancelotti did the same, and Pellegrini has never said anything about it, although he has been critical of Florentino since leaving. It was different in Casillas' case. It was very evident to see the media circus created by the managers dropping him. The media championing for his return and being brutally critical of poor Diego Lopez who did not deserve it at all. Now even if he had nothing to do with it at all; he certainly did nothing to calm it down or stop it. Instead he began posting weird pictures on social media and had his girlfriend, and known friends in the media appear in TV and press to add fuel to the flame.
Every coach says that Perez does not pressure them on who starts. I stopped believing them right around Camacho's departure.
Seriously, lol @ anyone who takes those statements at anything more than face value. I'm sure managers are going to want to reveal the inner workings of a club on the way out and thereby make every subsequent potential employer wonder if it's a good idea to bring them aboard! Influence also need not be explicit. When you make a big summer signing and you're basically the club dictator, said signing is going to start. For many different reasons.
Claim the president is pressuring the managers. The managers deny the claim. Pish posh, the managers are clearly lying.
Casillas was caught in no mans land, but there where 5-6 other players standing around ball watching Godin being completely free and unmarked being played onside by some snoring guy on the other side of the box. All the goalkeepers fault. In your mind anyway.
