I somehow missed the fact that the game against Tucson was yesterday! According to the ScoreStream page for the game, it ended in a 0-0 tie. Not good news...

Talked with a Charge rep this evening. They're skipping the WPSL playoffs to participate in the US Open Cup. (A lot easier to get to Virginia Beach than Knoxville.) Also said they only found out a few days ago that they were in the South Region and not the East Region where they've been since forever.
Anyway, while last year's Final Four hosts are justifiably giving WPSL the cold shoulder, here's a recap of what we know so far of weekend action: Thurs.9 - Chicago 0-0 FISC, Houston 2-1 RSL Fri. 10 --- Tottenham 2-1 North Bay, Tacoma ?? Issaquah, Beach 1-1 SoCal, SDSL 0-0 Tuscon Sat. 11 --- Pittsburgh ?? Empire Revs Mon. 13 - OKCFC TBD Houston And for standings updates: --In the NW, both Tacoma and Issaquah had previous wins finally reported, the two teams now 7-0-2 and 6-2 respectively. Getting the score for Friday's match will be telling. --Fresno lost to a middling Pac-N team, meaning it's now down to Tottenham (9-3, done) and the CA Storm (8-3 but technically done as a score from the 11th still need reporting). If WPSL uses H2H as first tiebreak, Tottenham already have the Pac-N title due to being ahead 4-3 on aggregate over the Storm even if the Storm won on the 11th; if GD is first tiebreak, a Storm win on the 11th would put them as winning. --The WPSL standings page lists defending WPSL Champion Beach FC as out of contention, third but tied for second with SDSL (listed second) and FC Tuscon (listed fourth) with all three at 6-2-1. BFC has +22 GD, though, while SDSL has +9 and FCT +8. Again, comes down to WPSL's actual tiebreakers, which I don't know by heart. SoCal FC has won the division at 7-0-2, undefeated. --Big Sky is still up in the air (pun completely intended) with RSLW at 10-2-1, Houston at 9-1-2, and OKCFC at 9-2-1. It's worth noting, though, that the Aces' website lists them at 10-1-2, since WPSL doesn't have their game against Tulsa reported yet. I still think it's a crime that Big Sky won't get two reps in the playoffs - maybe WPSL will let one in with ASAC vacating their spot? --Chicago Red Stars Reserves have won the Midwest-Central division with a record of 9-0-1 to FISC's 7-1-2. If there's any justice, FISC will get the fourth spot in the Midwest playoff bracket. --MW-GL Motor City FC --The NE division has been won by Boston Breakers Reserves (9-0-1) with Seacoast United Phantoms (7-2-1) getting the NE's reported second playoff spot. --Can-Am still led by Empire Revs (6-0-1) but Pittsburgh (4-1-1) can catch them, as the division goes to 9 games. --The New England Mutiny has won the Power 5 division with a record of 7-1, easily edging NYAC (4-1-2, still a game to play/report). --Still a footrace between Hersey SC and Yankee Lady FC in the Mid-Atlantic --ASA Chesapeake Charge won the South Atlantic division as was hashed out earlier (WPSL still don't have the results/standings correctly updated) but they're rejecting their playoff spot. Not sure who it will go to, if filled at all and not counted as a walkover. Fredericksburg and VA Beach are vying for the second-place spot in the division. --Sunshine Tampa Bay Hellenic --Southeast was won by the Knoxville Lady Force, but as was also reported, the SE is doing divisional playoffs with all four of their divisional teams (what use was the regular season??) to determine who they send to the South regionals. The FC Nashville Wolves have beaten Alabama FC in the first semifinal on the 10th; the other semifinal on the 10th has yet to be reported.
I was told Fredericksburg finished second, but they're not participating either. Not entirely sure whether they declined or were snubbed, but they're in the USASA women's tournament along with the Charge.

OKLAHOMA CITY FC BLANKS HOUSTON ACES, ADVANCES TO WPSL REGIONAL I think my contact said something about the Sunshine folks blowing off the playoffs (past the division level, at least) as well.
*sigh* People need to do their research a bit better.... The last 7 WPSL champs were Ajax (Pac-S), Long Island (East), Boston Aztec (NE), OC Waves (Pac-S), Gulf Coast Texans (Sunshine), San Diego (Pac-S), and Beach FC (Pac-S) - so only 4/7, not 5/7, and none from Pac-N. To be fair, teams from what is now the Pac-S won 6 of the first 7 WPSL championships, but many of those years were when WPSL was West-heavy. And there were three champions between the first 7 and most recent 7, all from the East.

Maybe time for a '16 thread, and maybe a rename of the forum to "WPSL and UWS," or a more generic "Women's Amateur Leagues," to include constructs like the possible L-ASL. Anyway, the standings page lists 92 teams in 13 divisions. http://www.wpsl.info/standings/ Now, I wonder how many of the 13 division winners would actually go to the playoffs, leading to "proper" exits (either championship or eliminated on the field) and not mysteriously getting "cycled out."
