they sure are spending a lot in players with not to many leaving. Peñarieta, Ballivian, and Pereyra are the best confirmed additions in my opinion. Melean mentioned in an interview two days ago that he has an option outside of Bolivia, and if that doesn't work out he would stay at Oriente. Mariano Torres was one of the best players last season, I know Bolivar is after him too but only as an option if Callejon doesn't come back.

haha, I just thinking of creating a similar post yesterday to counter balance the cholis :p

Luis Torrico is not with The Strongest anymore, I think Duk is not coming anymore because oriente wanted 45k for the loan, Torrez is staying in Argentina for a second divition team, Didi is staying with Blooming (good for us I think). Nelvin Soliz and Abel Mendez seem to be going to Universitario for next year.

Happy to see Ballivian, Peñarrieta and Pereyra

Offical Germán Centurión will not be returning to The Strongest. The newspaper sights family issues.

On Jair Torrico I'm hesitant to call it official because from previous seasons I have learned that Jair is kinda of a premadona when it comes to his contract negotiations. I'll wait until he is introduced as a player of another team.

Thanks dsauna for the Torrico update, great minds think alike.

    Update on Rumored Players Inbound
s/n Fabio Escobar Delantero Paraguay 02 de Febrero de 1982 (Deportivo Capiata)
s/n Gianakis Suarez Tan Wing Mediocampista Bolivia 26 de Julio de 1991 (Wilsterman)
s/n Roly Desiderio Sejas Muñoz Mediocampista Bolivia 31 de Mayo de 1986 (Wilsterman)
s/n Alejandro Melean Villarroel Mediocampista Estados Unidos 16 de Junio de 1987 (Oriente Petrolero)

With Germán Centurión gone The Strongest have opened up spot for a foreign player. Really quick with Centurión leaving for "family issues" a picture of him and his son with a Santa fe Jersey popped up online causing some to question his "family issues". However for me I'm not crushed with his departure, I think he did a decent job, he is not by any means irreplaceable but I did respect his attitude and leadership. I will miss his after games team selfies. We might have 2 foreign player spots available if Marteli get his Bolivian citizenship before the start of the league.

I'm not to familiar with F. Escobar but I saw some stats for this season, in which he scored 6 goals and 3 were PK, not impressive. G. Suarez and R. Sejas are unknown to me, I don't remember them standing out in anyway when The Strongest played Wilsterman. My opinion on Melean is that he is overrated, yes he is quick and athletic but I don't trust his soccer smarts to create or start play. I'm sure he isn't better the either Veizaga or Castro.

That's is a lot of quantity and not so much quality. Bolivar made the same mistake when Escobar was the coach 4-5 years ago, they brought in a bunch of ok players from our league, but very few stayed more than one season due to not being good enough, and also not enough time playing/training with each other. Needless to say we did not win the league that year. Let's hope the strategy works just as bad for you guys! :D

Good morning Strongestas, get my mind of the disaster that was the NT last night lets talk about el Tigre

    http://paginasiete.bo/campeones/2015/6/7/caballero-negocia-duelo-amistoso-olimpia-59156.html

Possible friendly between The Strongest and Olimpia of Paraguay. Good preseason tune up.

    http://www.la-razon.com/marcas/Suarez-cerca-octavo-refuerzo-atigrado_0_2284571623.html

Giankis Suarez appears to be the 8 new signing for The Strongest. We will have to wait and see. Don't know much about Suarez but he is young and maybe a squad rotation player.

    Mid-week news;
Pre-season starts this Monday, for all the young players who are on the pre-professional team and the new signings. All next week will be dedicated to administrative matters to include medicals for the new signing and for the entire team just to gauge their physical state. Next Friday is the mandatory show up date for everyone, that's mainly for our international players who are on vacation. One thing is bothering me, last week I posted how we had Olimpia of Paraguay lines as a home and away friendly matches prior to the season. Apparently another team in La-Paz has also thrown their name in the hat for the same friendly. Monkey see monkey do, anyways I doubt it Villegas is know for hitting the sand dunes in Oruro for preseason specially when he coaches players on the west side of Bolivia. Happy dunes to those who are headed their with winter sneaking up. Here is a link to some of the news for this Wednesday.

    image.jpg BREAKING NEWS.
I would of preferred Reyna who has history with the club. However I do remember him having issues with passing his physical I think it was a knee issue. I don't like F. Escobar age but maybe he will step up and be the "9" that we needed for the last 4 years.

Players have been arriving all week. Most of our new signings have arrived except for the one playing in Chile and Ballivian who is still in Sucre. Friday at 4pm is the official show up date and time for everyone unless of course you are in Chile. Two things have been reported, first the Nelvin Soliz case. The player is disappointed on the loan move to Cyclon. He feels betrayed since no one from the current administration has spoken to him. So Soliz is showing up on Friday, hopefully that gets resolved, I see both sides of this story. Soliz had a bad season last year due to injuries and no real playing time. The Strongest has not official notified the player of his loan move so they need to deal with this matter a little more professional. My personal wish is for Soliz to be loaned out. I want Chavez getting some time, along with Albastaflor I think we have that left side covered. The other is the wait game for F.Escobar. According to the Official The Strongest radio Station "El Derribador" it's due to the price tag on the player. I don't understand how a 33 year old player that only scored 6 goals (3 were PK) can be so expensive???? Hopefully this all gets resolved later on tonight or tomorrow morning and we get the news that he is either on his way or not. image.jpg

They seem to be spending a great deal of money, I hope they don't star having financial problems midway through the season. That being said I love the Ballivian addition, he's gonna be an upgrade ready to play international competition. I think he could use this as a platform to a team outside Bolivia and hopefully bring some money into the team, but that's a ways away he's gonna be fun to watch. I like Penarrieta as well, he'll challenge Vaca and may even beat him for the starting spot. Newman is a solid threat upfront, hope he's able to adjust quickly. Why are they still perusing this Escobar who is overpriced and probably not worth it. Newman is solid and and Ramallo is becoming a hell of a striker, Rodriguez is a very good sporting guy. IMO Strongest should bring in Duk, I bet he's not as expensive as this Escobar guy, he's younger and has a nose for the goal, sometimes we don't appreciate our own players at home and rather spend on guys who are not even as good.

Ricky Vaca is a good young mid. However he has a history indiscipline. Which has followed him since Spain. Last season he played in Sport Boys who was horrible. I don't see Vaca adding to the team, he is gonna be mid to down on the pecking order on the strongest.

I have mixed feelings about Ricky Vaca. He did seem to be a great player in one of the sub-something tournament, but again the discipline problem worries me. Good thing he is young. Actually I heard he didn't get to play for sport boys at all.

I saw that this kid Abastoflor played. He's one player I hope gets a chance to play, in the past he has shown some skill and major speed. Strongest needs to step it up when it comes to their youth teams, Bolivar has jumped out in front with their player development. You could see it by the lineup they put out on the field for this game. The great majority of those players at one point or another passed through the youth teams. It's about time Tigre takes that just as seriously.

I would agree it's not something to be proud of, but I would hardly call that a youth team. Are they young? Yes, however they have a good amount of experience in our league. Saavedra, Maygua, Arrascaita, justiniano. Have a great deal of experience and are all very good players.
Even the goalie Widen Rojas had a great year last year at Nacional.

Stronges lost 0-1 against Cobresal from Chile. Sounds like they played a good first half and the goal was scored on a Vaca turnover. The interesting part of the article comes at the end. they mention that Cobresal is interested in at least two Strongest players, Chuma, Escobar, and or Castro. Strongest would charge a $500 k transfer fee for each.
Not sure they woul go for that, specially for Escobar, he's 36. I would like to see Castro play in Chile, I think he would do well, Chuma would also do okay IMO. Let's see what happens.

i´m in bolivia on family business. i missed sundays friendly but hopefully i´ll be able to watch one if not both classicos for the copa cine center that starts this weekend. i don´t know the times but i saw in the paper that it all starts this sunday. lots of papers are saying that the game with the chileans was tight, it could of gone either way. they all said that Ballivian stood out as the best player from all the new signings. but our best player on the field was by far Castro. I agree i saw play in the friendly against los Cholis and he was by far the best on the field. Also they all noticed that Neuman looks heavy and out of shape. hopefully muscle waits more then fat and he can become the center forward that everyone is expecting. also they squashed all rumors of the Chuma and Escobar transfer. not going to happen.

So it's 2017 and The Strongest just pulled the 2016 Clausura from the clutches of its primary rival Bolivar. It was a glorious December. Now in 2017 we have Copa Libertadores, with a new format and no Mexican teams participating. El Tigre is playing the second phase of the first round of qualifying for the group stages. Real complicated but we play the winner of La U de Sucre and Wonders of Montevideo. I haven't done much scouting on the Montevideo team but I think our chances are decent to proceed to group stages. With most of our team returning we have a strong core of players and most important we still have Pablo. At 36ish turning 37 a year older then me, Pablo is an amazing freak of nature. He was mentioned as player of the year in a Uruguayan sports magazine. I guess for me it would be a strong debate between Pablo and el Conejo, but I guess at this point we must concentrate on what's ahead. Finally La Liga should start around the last week of January and since Carnavales isn't till the end February that promises a few weeks of soccer. I would like for NGSN to return so I can watch more games. But it is what it is. I would also like to send a shout out to Jair Torrico who signed for Sports Boys, can't be mad at him he got few minutes on the field and he deserves more. Jair was a great employee of the team and has won more with El Tigre then he ever imagined so god's speed to him.
